Either reduce the X1's turbo or increase the SCP's turbo to balance the running of x1's from fights. I'd prefer reducing the X1's turbo and increasing the IBG's to more match the SVG's. This could balance the top and smaller ships.
BTW, this is just to match the running from fights of both top tier and mid tier nationalist ships and I'd think this should be +1'd by all. Increasing the SCP's turbo would just create another pirate ship though, so I, as a trader, would prefer a reduction of the X1's thrust (with increase in IBG), but expect Itani to whine like ninnies about that.

Isn't that precisely why they buffed the SVG?
I seriously doubt that this kind of tampering is going to really change player behavior if this is really an issue. Near as I can tell, when the hound got nerfed, folks just switched back to other hit and run ships. This is a style of game play that has been complained about since I started.
I'm just not convinced that it isn't a legitimate style. Certainly it evokes hard feelings about being cheated out of a pk, but imo that is the problem of the offended. We can't control other people and the game should not be designed to impose that sort of control either. What we should have is a reasonably balanced opportunity for equal participation.
If the SVG does not offer that, give it another minor thrust buff.

You want the SCP to be able to chase an x1? That can't be right. Please state the problem you are trying to solve.
Until then, -1.

Oh piss off Kenny. The SCP under no circumstances should be able to chase the most advanced interceptor ship.
And if you used them properly, you'd know that under most circumstances, the SVG can easily shoot and kill a turboing x1. Stop blaming the ships for your lack of skill and go practise instead of running away all the time.

You, as a trader (LOL) shouldn't even be qualified to comment on top tier nationalist ships, nor even really combat for that matter.
This suggestion has my -1, and I leave you with this:
The X-1 does what it was designed to do.
The SCP does what it was designed to do.
If you don't like the nationalist ships being better at combat than you, then become a nationalist and stop whining like a ninny. They're designed to be the best, and the SCP is already overpowered against an X-1 in so many ways, that this would make it unstoppable. You've clearly never used an X-1 against an SCP, or you'd know this.

"the SVG can easily shoot and kill a turboing x1."... kierky, would a third small port for the svg even it out?
No, the SVG handles heavier loads better than the X-1, and in the first 10s of turbo, it has a higher acceleration too. Ports are not everything. I've killed plenty of fleeing X-1's (Roda & alts) using a SVG with dual lenbs.
This is an old thread from 2005 where some, now old players and vets, discussed VO ship balance.
I suggest everyone reads it before posting here.
Mind you, this discussion was going BEFORE IBG/Rev C were hit by the nerf stick and were made bigger with larger hit area and valkyrie top speed was 240 m/s and SCPs 220 m/s
PILOTS THREAD FOR NERFING THE PROM
And this poem sums it quite nicely:
The Skill-less Command Prometheus- Ode Against AGT Proms
Also I have to point out this old statement by tramshed:
"calling someone a n00b because they cant beat a prom is silly. If they were nice and balanced there wouldnt be so many threads on them. I think the fact that it took 6 BL members in light ships to take down a pair of proms while still sustaining pretty heavy losses speaks for itself."
Older VO players would know what 6 BL members in light ships means.

I don't want to see a link to Pilot's stupid thread without this one: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/15/11971
On topic, it's worth remembering that in addition to the speed cap changes, the SCP has been hit with the nerf bat at least twice since 2005, as have the sunflares and AGT. The beasts that tram was referring to in that comment just don't exist anymore.

Since you're going back that far, valks all got hit with the nerf bat since then too. They weigh twice as much now that their weapons add mass.
Macs are better than pcs
you sure about that, greenie?

That's going back even further; since I started in early 2005, the SCP (and flare/gat prom specifically) has definitely received more nerfing than the Valk line. Indeed, the X-1 didn't even exist until quite recently. Which is not to say that the 2005-2006 era SCP flare/gat combo wasn't incredibly OP, just that it's been nerfed much more than the Valks.
None of this matters much, though, because the Valk will continue to be VO's favorite ship so long as the gameplay continues to offer very little utility for a tank-style ship. There's no reason in VO gameplay that one ever has to face a prom pilot head-on, so it's unsurprising that a run and gun and run some more fighter is so consistently popular.

That statement isn't true. What ships people have to face depend entirely on what ships they are flying themselves and where. Prom pilots can easily chase down and devour XCs in a wormhole camp. Anyone in a light enough ship can avoid being forced to face a valk.
What is true is that faster ships see greater combat utility in the completely limitless expanse of a VO sector. The only way people could be forced to confront SkyProms is if there were an enclosed space or structure that had an area of value inside that could be guarded. Otherwise SkyProm pilots rely upon the devotion of their targets to the fight.

This suggestion is to make a serco player able to finish his prey if the prey in x1 chooses to run, if nobody +1's it, I'd like to see if the devs would consider it for a month or two to see if kierky running is the reason serco aren't playing.
My hypothesis is that serco get robbed of pks and then itani claim win cause the serco cannot run in battles, they are stuck there. Even out the turbo and lets see how the ships that must finish fights fair.

???? Are you serious? Pinning the absence of serco vets on Kierky is ridiculous. You hypothesis is wrong. There have been many battles between Itani and Serco where the serco have held up just fine.
Turbo-ability plays absolutely no role in retention.
Pepsi is better than Coke!

Even out the turbo and top speed of a tank and a sports car.
Brilliant idea kenny.
Whatever you paid for the mushrooms you digested before writing this was money well spent.
I am all for it but only if AGT gets a weight increase to 15 tons and swarm tubes also get a weight increase to 10 tons per tube. In fact all heavy weapons should get an overall weight increase up to at least 5 tons.
Let's level the playing field some more.

Proms can run just fine, all that armor helps on the way to jump distance.
This is all nonsense. Perfect balance will never be achieved, nor is perfect balance desireable. If you make the ships the same then next you'll be on about proms are available too close to latos or something. If you want perfect balance play chess. Go to youtube and search on 'perfect imbalance'.
The only way to keep an opponent from running is to use /duel. Running is a legitimate use of a ship's engine. I am amazed everyone has their panties in a bunch over this. Evasion is a much used tactic in armed conflicts, not wanting to have it in VO is silly.
Adjust your strategies to work well with what you have. Think out of the box. Play the game.
Before you tell me I don't know anything about proms, trust me when I say I use every ship in the game (except the UDV Raptor)

Get rid of nations so we can all run away in X1s like Shitty Kitty.
