hd mkii mining beam only available to combat 9+
megaposi mkii only available to mining 9+
this creates a player market where combat pilots and non combat pilots have to trade in order to have the best equipment
just an idea the licence levels and items involved can be changed to suit

what the hell is wrong with you? This does not make any shred of sense..
why would non combat pilots being NON COMBAT pilots, want to do combat by MINING????
You're bloody mental, you really are.

I knew this was a bad idea when i first saw the title.
Drevent, did you forget about your own post?

Also, note this spectacular similar idea that you can only find by using google site search (goddamn the forum search here sucks!)

Kierky you're being a jerk. The suggestion specifically states that the purpose is to attempt to create a new player market so criticism is only legitimate on the basis of whether or it actually functions to achieve that. Telling him he's stupid purely because you don't like it is in itself stupid.
Drevent, I don't particularly like the level system, I think it will be redundant when we establish a proper faction system, I could even see licensing being a subset of the faction system where you are issued licenses for each faction independently, so suggesting a player market based on level restrictions is not something I would normally support anyway.
However, that isn't the only reason I think it's not a good idea. What we know is that where restrictions like this are already in place, such as with the UC battery, a few individuals will supply vast amounts to the rest of the in-game population, and most players won't even bother. If you're thinking this is a good idea and that you will get an all new role, think again. You're basically going to be competing with one or two individuals who have infinite supply to trade your megaposi to other people. It won't create the burgeoning market you hope it will, at least until we get supply side variability.

You mean like how Corvus Widowmakers and Teller Ulam Mines have to be manufactured?
Heh, sure, I guess you could make them manufacturable, but as things stand, making something manufacturable basically removes them from regular usage of most players. Case in point Superlights.
Well there's also a set of half-broken missions involved for those too.
I can't make them on ARF_01 because running into an ion storm during the courier mission apparently fails it.

agreed with the idea craftable ships/weapons to can buy them in market for a fair lvl of licence, why not and a capship and motivate the only combat players/pilots to play more the game
-1. This idea is stupid. Ludicrous, even.
-1. Really? Take to many happy pills?
Actually, I think the concept is rather solid- create a symbiotic relationship between the abilities of traders and combat pilots.
BUT instead of a weird, nonsensical implementation - How about a mission that requires some kind of combative engagement (gathering a queen's lovemaking bits or something) in order to manufacture a stronger mining beam. (Eye of a leviathan for focusing lens!)
That way it creates a situation where a player could use it with their trade levels, but they might not have the aptitude to actually go out and make one themselves.

All the combat pilots would just afk boil all your favorite roids to get direct access to the MP2, all the miners would do hive skirmishes until they got access to the HD2.
The idea of one path of player specialization supplying another is interesting, but the example isn't convincing. Do we really need to escalate those 2 pieces of equipment?

Not really. They're both two of the better addons in the game.
There's a whole plethora of other ones that could use some tweaking before beefing up the Megaposi or HD beams.

This specific example would not be effective, however I think Drevent's actual idea (which all but TRS seems to have overlooked) is somehow forcing the creation of a player drive market through game play rules and interaction.
Let's start there, shall we?

TRS, shut up. I stated my grounds on which I thought it was a bad idea. It will not create a player market, only confusion to an already crazy system of accessibility. There is no good reason in any market why doing combat grants access to mining equipment, the best even. Nor the other way around.
let us just review, Kierky. Your "grounds" for it being a bad idea were:
what the hell is wrong with you? This does not make any shred of sense..
why would non combat pilots being NON COMBAT pilots, want to do combat by MINING????
You're bloody mental, you really are.
I don't see grounds. I see a question in between your being a JERK.
Now, your follow up:

This is an actual opinion stated as grounds for disagreeing on the OP. However, in the future, you can simply say: -1 to OP

And whats more, it isn't even that weird or out there a suggestion, we already have the mechanics in action at the moment with other things like manufacturables as ARF points out, it just hasn't worked very well at creating a player market. I think this will change with supply side variability, hell, I know it will and so do all the miners.
While we're all bickering about capships poor miners are hoping that the economy is the next round of updates so the game feels renewed for them too. Hang in there guys and girl, your time will come.

It's the truth. You don't go to an airliner and immediately get access to flying a jet when you've only got a boat license. It does not make sense. At all.
Any corporation in Vo could decide to give only high level miners access to exclusive weapons technology in return for supplying them with the ores to make them. Make enough sense for you?
