after reading a post by Inc about how he wanted a gradual tappering off of safety going from the capital to grey space i did a little experiment in UIT space today in a yellow greyhound pretending to be a bot and pirating newbs and sad to say none of them saw it coming, even with the strike force out.

therefore I propose that whenever a hated or KOS player jumps into a monitored sector that sector chat announces an outlaw is in the area and that authorities are on the way, this way it would at least give a heads up to the newbs. the warning should also play when a new player jumps in to inform them of the current pirate in the sector.

I like it. That's the sort of thing real-world authorities do when they're chasing a very dangerous person. It doesn't require any immersion-breaking mechanics or violate "nowhere is safe".

Situational awareness in the default client SUCKS. Anything we can do to improve that for players *without plugins* would help greatly.

It could use the mission updates area instead of the chat area, if spammage is an issue.
