It'd be awesome to be able to name your ships, and have the name show up when it's targeted (there'd have to be a name filter, of course)... It'd make Vendetta seem more realistic...

Oh yeah, and I call the names Hope, Glory, and Silvana (and its alternative spelling, Silverna)! :P

I like this idea. Not so much the idea itself as what it entails. The idea of longer lived ships, and ships designs that can be saved and recalled.

Yeah, it sort of depends on that happening first... :P

But... why? Everytime you die you're going to have to think up a new name. I'd say it would be more cumbersome than fun. I think custom decals/nose art would make more sense as a way of having individuality. I also like the idea of having an avatar or portrait for selected targets. A parental lock should allow for these features to be disabled, for those concerned about inappropriate skins and whatnot.

As the game develops combat will become less and less common, so it isn't that much of an issue as far as I know. Aside from that, I envisioned it as naming your ship designs rather than the ship itself. When it gets blown up you replace it.
