Give the Moth Some Meat.....

While I know the experienced players lover shooting newbies in a moth, making the newbie mad, I think the moth should be beefed up, a lot.

First, after mining and bored out of your mind for an hour, only to be destroyed by some experience player, hardly gives A GOOD EXPERIENCE to any newbie. And before some experience players says to stay in Nation space and be safe, I have seen pirates (Rin, and a different pirate with a -1000 faction rating), go into nation space and kill newbies in moths. And one newbie said on 100: why does that guy keep killing me! I never seen that newbie again.

In you want to make the game exciting, add 2 gattling turrents on top of each moth, along with the extra ports. Then, it is fun and a challenge even to pirates, instead of a simple killing and wise ass trashing by the pirate ....

The experience be a lot different if you have a chance.....

Not a chance - the moth has been nerfed to its current state from a much faster and more heavily-armored predecessor, precisely because it's the best balance of profit/risk.

If you can't defend yourself with swarms and/or mines, then you better be prepared to run, pay, or die. Or suck it up and do your trading/mining in a taur.

Yer a whiny little runt.

P.S. You do realize that gat turrets are jokes, right?

Heh. No.

By design, no place is safe except the training sector, and only then because the devs cheated. Otherwise I would do a suicide weapons delivery to each of the newbie sectors, collect the dropped weapons with newbie alts, and leave them waiting for moments when I feel the desire to put an illiterate fool out of his misery.

But unfortunately, the devs cheated. :\

Also, people in moths are fully capable of fighting back. I used to kill VPR all the time while I was flying a moth, back when they were around and actually VPRing. Moths have two (2) large ports. Load 'em up with jacks or swarms and blow things up. Seriously. People would wait by my loot planning to kill me when I came back in a moth to pick it up. I wouldn't even slow down. Charge 'em, release swarms, scoop the loot, and fly away riding the explosion that used to be their ship.

Didn't always go that smoothly of course...

The Behemoth is a top-tier transport ship. If you're flying a moth, you're not a newbie anymore and you don't deserve any sort of protection for it. You should know your way around the galaxy and know your way out of sticky situations.

It's got tons of armor (only 1000 less then a skyprom) and firepower (2 L-ports and 3 turrets) that you can load up with mines and missiles and maybe hire a few real newbies for a few thousand credits to gun for you.

We, uh, did exactly that for a while. And it was great :D

Cargo ships in VO are already overpowered and overarmoured... Freighters should be no match for a fighter or bomber.

Just compare a freighter to a comtemporany combat ship and you will notice that the Moth is still way too powerfull ...

the fact that you can use it as a viable pvp ship kinda shows that alloh...

Oh, yeah! Every time I go to Sedina B-8, I see them battling with Moths.
NOT! So, when was the last time you battled in a Moth, in Sedina B-8? Never? Nooooo.

What is going on here is a group of people, who has mastered the game, and now
love to trash and pick on the newbies, from a position of power.

Basically, bullies.

Maybe you should stop spamming the heck out of Sedina with those bots,
and have more moth fights. I have yet to see one. And if there was one,
after today, it would be a planned fake.

This game is about the user experience. And so far, it sucks, except for the
bullies.

And, the fact that you can run circles around the moth, has no bearing? Heck, you can drop mines in front of the moth, you can run ahead of the moth, and shoot it with rockets, or shoot if from the side, all day long.

Now, I know you are going to next, give me dribble about the moth firing rockets back, when you know you can avoid and outrun the them. The moth can't.

Again, what we have here is a bunch of bullies, trying to keep power. It ruins the user experience.

And again, I have never seen a moth in pvp in Sedina B-8.

Then you're not paying attention. You also apparently have missed all the "Mothballs", Moth Death Races, Moth Unarmed Demolition Derbies, Armed Moth Demolition Derbies, Tube Wars (Moth Edition) and all the bored players (newer and ancient) who simply get bored and go head to head in Moths.

It was suggested before but apparently it needs to be brought to your attention again... before you start whining and condemning everyone and everything, because you don't have a problem... everyone else does... get in the game, learn the game, understand how things work and then if you still have no problem because everyone else is the problem, well... then you're an idiot.

Here you go. Footage of me winning a combat race last year, in a moth. The relevant part begins at about 1:30.

But yeah, in general a fighter is better at fighting than a cargo ship, which is how it is supposed to be. What is your point?
Nov 22, 2011 Dr. Lecter link
If you're unable to defend yourself, don't fly a moth, you fucking idiot.

Boredom?

I think he has a point but his suggestion is bad. Instead of adding extra weapons make turrets auto fire at targets. Maybe not all 4 but at least 2 of them. Btw why does a moth need 4 turrets?

Good times, good times.

Why do you people even bother responding to this clown?

Because we are all bullies, gawd, didn't he make that obvious?
Nov 27, 2011 Crusader8389 link
garvin: would make moth waaay to overpowered, as has been mentioned it's already got way too much armour, weapons, etc for a ship thats supposed to be a transport.
Nov 28, 2011 mrGarvin link
Then maybe they can remove 2 turrets, reduce armor and add more cargo space, something like 140cu?

If the do that they should also change the cargo hold for the other moth's as well. Something like this maybe?

Light: 100cu (current: 80cu)
Heavy Miner MkI: 160cu (current: 140cu)
Heavy Miner MkII: 200cu (current: 180cu)
XC: 250cu (current: 200cu)

I like my party moths the way it is.

Also, all hail Super vendettio kart!

To add to the discussion at the very end of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1PQoaQ4LxI Rin and a fully loaded party moth hammer me pretty good with jacks while firing suppressing n2 turret fire
