More Racing Tracks

Unless I am mistaken the only racing tracks available are the ones in Grey space. Correct me if I'm wrong, and ignore the rest of the post.

With the inclusion of the racing badges, it may cause more players to pursue a record or two. Why not make racing a more accessible sport? I would suggest putting racetracks in Blue, Red, and Yellow Space, and maybe even a small one in each of the training sectors. Give newer players some of the thrill, and older players more of a challenge. If new racetracks are a pain to design maybe just copy the existing tracks to a new location.

I like them in grey where they are a draw to bring players out of safer nation space.

I'm going to have to agree with Whistler. The last thing we need is to take one of the few things that makes Grey unique and spam it all over the universe.

Keeping them in grey is a good idea. I liked something Fluffy said...

"Stop trying to 'force' players into Grey. Let human nature or rather 'greed' do the work."

Racetracks will be just another thing that draws newbies into greyspace.

But it wouldn't hurt to have one in each nation's capital maybe?

WTB training station-only race tracks! It may make training sectors look a lot more like kiddy land with all the ECs and the race tubes/slides but... "KIDDY LAND!"

Yeah, keep em' in grey.

If not in nation space why not add a duplicate of the B-5 track in each training sector? If noobs get into racing they'll be more eager to come to grey space and race there.

And also how complex are racing track to create? Because with the new racing badges some new race tracks in grey would be cool too.

I was actually being somewhat sarcastic... but sure whatever. Kiddyland!

more race traks would be nice, I'm not real worried about where they are.

I'd have no problem with putting a rudimentary tube in the training sectors, it's a time honoured space rpg feature. Worked very well for X-wing as I recall.

get some records on the current tracks before you ask for more :P

and 6 tracks is quite good for a game that isnt actually about racing

Ahem, i have some, now can i ask for more? >_>

sure! can you ask for one with the shape of a pony?

I even liked the idea of having one simple track on each training sector. Seems the most perfect tool for training new pilots. And maybe require newbie cross it at least once before leaving sector!

You know pilot a ship? Show me crossing the training course in less than M:SS then you are authorized to leave sector.

>good shortcut for alts.
Jan 05, 2010 maq link
Don't think it should be used as a way to skip tutorials.
If you want to give alts a shortcut maybe let them start outside of training sectors in the first place, but that's a different subject.

If more race tracks were added to grey, where would they go?

Pelatus is absolute wilderness, and it should stay that way. I wish we had more sectors as empty as Pelatus, preferably with good ores or something else that makes them worth exploring.

Edras, Ukari, Helios, and Latos are all adjacent to Nation space and also don't have Corvus stations. Race tracks should be in deep Grey, both for RP and pragmatic purposes.

Odia is already pretty full. There really isn't room for any race tracks.

Bractus might work, but it's kind of in the same boat as Pelatus on this issue.

Anyway, honestly I think we have enough race tracks. Why do we need more?

Introduce them on training sectors, simple ones, and explain the real ones, that scores for ranking, are in sedina *-5.

Most, if not all, newbies doesnt even knows they exist...

(Newbies does not read all forum/manual/wiki BEFORE playing)

I'd love to see more racetracks in Sedina.

I like the idea of putting very simple tracks in the training sectors. It could give new players a better feel for maneuvering their ships.

I'm not a big race person, but I can see why others would want more variety.
