i propose that the jump be faster. I'm not sure how long it takes but the time should be cut in half. That way it will be harder to kill someone when they jump

A constructive comment: how about adding a key that would let you cancel the jump mid-flight? Say... the turbo key.
but no, jump time shouldn't be shortened. having a long jump time balances things out. Fleeing rats get killed plenty of times when jumping. Just ask blood thirsty.

Indeed, jump times are just right the way they are. They could be experimented on up/down a little, but I doubt a change in either direction will make things more interesting.

I do like the idea of having an option to abort the jump if you get fired upon.
Agree with Roda that jumps should cancel upon being hit: get away clean, or die where you're caught.

Maybe a middle ground would be having an option to stop the jump when attacked. The option should also include the health of the ship.
I propose that Jess not try to knock over CtC voys and then post a suggestion when he gets killed for it!
vardonx: I didn't suggest this because i died in ctc. I get killed a lot. Its fine, death usually means nothing. I suggested this because i remember a time when i was invincible when jumping. As a trader i would like to have the option of fighting or at least seeing my health as i jump. Pretend we aren't on chan 100 and don't discount the suggestion just because it came from me.
Why not just allow the player to remain in control while jumping. The jump effect would look amazing from the cockpit.

Cancelling the jump if you get hit will make it MUCH harder to get away than you n00bs think.
(Which is, of course, why Lecter/Roda want it like that.)
I never run from a fight, so it would really make no difference to me - but the traders would be up in arms with this.
I WOULD like, however, to make the transition INTO sector take far less time. I've been killed a few times on warp-in when I was watching an animation of myself get obliterated, then explode, then back to home. <sigh> It's hard to pull that stunt off on the shooting end, but it DOES suck to be on the receiving end of it.

At bare minimum, a player should never take damage when he is not in full control of his craft.
You all suck, stay in the station already.
