When you dock with the cap ships during BS you are currently charged for reloads and repairs.
I would think these would be free given you are expending the ammo/taking the damage while fighting WITH the cap ships.
Or perhaps make free refills a reward after you have caused a certain amount of casualties in multiple skirmishes?

Interesting. I like it, generally. Should it be based on casualties? More feedback welcome.
Not casualties, because you don't tend to get a lot of casualties if you're shooting the capships (doing the 'real work'), unless you get lucky and get the finishing shot.
Probably should be separate counters for capship kills ("Capship Busters") and regular kills as well.
I like it.
I don't know if the complexity of basing repairs on anything is worth the added complexity. In battle, I would be happy if friendly ships were simply taking hits that might otherwise be directed at my HAC. I think it would be most economical to just give the repairs away to all local friendlies. I'm not seeing a significant opportunity for abuse, nor would paying for repairs be a worthwhile money sink.

Possibly record the sheild bust blow as well?
But the ones who use the most ammo tend to be bombers so a damage based stat that calculated compensation could work for them.

Free repairs/refills during a BS would be a good idea, especially for newer players - when I first started BS I would die a lot and occasionally have to abort the mission due to insufficient funds.
I would suggest number of BS missions completed (or won) if there is to be some kind of requirement for this.

Hmm...
It might be interesting to have a sort of "temporary home" set to the HAC on your side. After so many death's you start to respawn in your home station. Before the mission the HAC would stage nearby allowing you to shuttle a few ships to its hangar.
EX. Fly in a rag, take ec 89 shuttle out of hac fly to station, buy rag in station repeat.

Despite iry's spinning of this topic terribly off course...
I do think that repairs/reloads should be free for people in BS cappies who have the mission.
Let me repeat some of that. Only if you have the mission. Only in BS.
Damage calculators don't strike me as adding anything worthwhile.

Aramarth: as it is right now, I could do 99% of the damage to a capship (including taking down its shields), and then a friendly Vulture could sneak up, shoot once, and I would get absolutely no reward or credit for my hard work.
I'm pretty sure Hive bots already give damage-based xp when you kill them, so I don't think it will be an entirely new feature to implement.

Yes, and slime is right...and it's very annoying to have that happen too.
Don't get me wrong slime, I agree with you. I just think it deserves its own thread, instead of piggybacking off of a fix for ammo costs.
Yes, that should be put in its own thread (I also agree, but won't comment on it here).
How about free ships, weapons, repairs, etc... for members of the military. The real world does actually work that way.
Honestly, the recent ship repricing makes this a "do I want to keep playing this game" sort of problem.

This sounds perfect. It only makes sense that during an active BS mission, where you are actively defending your nation, your nation would cover the costs of your ships/repairs/weapons. This would also help to encourage people to participate in what might now be considered high risk activities with the increased ship cost.
Yes
Well, if you die too much (Perhaps measured in DpM) you shouldn't get free ships.
You shouldn't be able to just throw 'em away because the government...oh wait...
But yeah, seriously. What kind of limit would this have?

This does sound good. If you have the BS mission, free repair/reload in the BS capships. If you want to extend it to free ships, then if you have the BS mission and die in the BS sector, free repurchase when you respawn.
I think free ships AND respawning in a local capship may be a bit much, though. Part of the battle is killing the enemy bombers, if they immediately respawn right there, the point of killing them is severely dimished.
Edit: At the moment, I don't really see the need to limit the number of ships based on kills or deaths.

Should a replacement cover JUST the ship or weapons as well? I can't decide if it would be "beneficial" to have the pilots take some sort of hit for suffering excessive losses.
Rewards for damage inflicted, kills, turret kills, and pks would need to be adjusted and or added to make it possible to cover weapon replacement costs or even turn a profit over the course of the battle.
Rewards for destroying enemy players could be linked to the ship which the player is flying. Destroying an mkiii vulture would net about 5000c while a sky prom or x 1 would net 50,000 +. Stats of a player in past skirmishes could also be taken into account for rewards vs that pilot.
Perhaps link the casualty counts to the amount of damage inflicted to cap ships / turrets destroyed.
Something like
---------------------------
Ship Hull Destruction
Trident 10 6 + Remaining turrets
Teradon 40 20 + Remaining turrets
Connie 100 40 + Remaining turrets
HAC 600 100 + Remaining turrets
---------------------------
Destroying small turrets would count as 1 casualty inflicted
Destroying large turrets could count as 5 inflicted.
Would work like this
Ex.
A trident spawns and 2 pilots move to engage eventually the trident is destroyed however an NPC bomber scores the kill shot.
The credit of the kill would distribute like this.
Pilot A destroyed all 4 turrets in addition to inflicting ~20% hull damage. "A" would be rewarded for the 4 casualties of the turrets plus an additional 2 for the 20% damage vs the trident's hull.
Pilot B inflicted ~40% to the trident's hull and so would be rewarded for 4 casualties inflicted.
(Damage_to_hull / Total_hull) * Hull_Casualties
The remaining 4 casualties of the hull and the 6 for the tridents final destruction would be "awarded" to NPCs.
The total value of the ships would be maintained though it would be possible for more pilots to get actual credit for their role in the battle.

Here is my shtick on this one..
If the government is giving you free ships to fight in BS, they should no longer pay you for kills. You're either their soldier or you are a merc- what is this both garbage?
The reward for BS should be minor at best, and not based upon merit. Like the BP payout is currently. Why should they pay you extravagantly right now? Don't worry, you'll get your veterans' benefits a couple years down the road..
I'm not saying you shouldn't get exp, but hell no to monetary gain when ships cost you nothing. From the standpoint of my military experience, the government provides you with everything you need to fight their war for them, all you do is provide yourself.
