Hello, I'm Kevin Marsh, and I have recently joined your game as a new player. After many years of playing and doing my own revues of other games, literally every space based game out there.(I found yours by going in alphabetical order from A under MMORPG) I feel you have a decent game here. It isnt without problems, but none I have played is.Your 3d and colors are good, while some of the gameplay leaves much to be desired. I was told by a generally good community that the game belongs to and is run by 4 people. This explains a lot, knowing the money constraints that can cause. You seem to have done well, then under the cercomstances. My suggestions are: The universe you built hasnt changed enough over the time, wars are going on constantly, but ships and equipment are nearly identical from faction to faction. The "newb" shuttle /frieghter is understandable, np..but after that there is very little if any change in upgraded ships in any of the factions. Yes you have a new "Prototype" ship for each, but they are out of the reach of average players and are souley for the candy to keep serious players around to get them. NP there, but each faction has specific needs that are NOT being adressed. For instance, The Serco are the warrior class and need fighting ships equal to but much diferent than the UIT that are the business class. A war makes rapid changes, and ships would evolve to out do the competition at a great pace. Every faction needs ships of their own design, UIT ships need good protection, possibly turrets on big cargo carriers, while Serco ships would be fast and manuverable with heavy weapons. Itani ships would also be heavily armed and either heavily shielded or very manuverable due to the constant war with the Serco. What the game says now is...after all the time apart, no one has developed any new ships and are having a hard time replacing even the centurys old ships being destroyed. Not exactly a possible situation, unless their technology failed completely, then they wouldnt be in space at all.Shields on all ships are a definate missing link, without them armor would be a very heavy alternative, cutting down speed, and manuverability by probably 50%. A bad situation all around.I was told that even as the situation is now updates come out frequantly. Very good, but new smoke trails, might be nice but having frieghters with less than 500 cargos would make long distance export of goods both costly and keep prices very high. I saw frieghters, Behemoths.. that did carry 200...but this hardly would be what I'd expect from a space wareing society. Large shipments, even then would take time to move and frieghters are both slow and hard to manuver..this is just the way they are. In your game the "beginer" frieghter would probably be the Rev. It has very little cargo space, even in its best size and seems to be a beginners choice of miner or attack ship...very odd and hardly posible in reality. You have tryed to give people options of using fighting ships as frieghters or miner while not building a specific ship made mostly for the job, its an odd way to build at best, no offence. You have a class of light fighter, but no medium fighter, you jump instead to a "light"?? asault ship, using the Viper design. (nice ship btw) but it was and is meant to be a heavy fighter, on this game it carrys missiles and one laser. It would be better suited with 2 guns or an optional ship using all missiles. The bots you have jump from hardly capable of defending themselves to a few medium fighter and then some even the vets said to stay well away from. This isnt bad, a good spread of action, but without shields, at least on the heavy fighter/ assualt ships they manuver a little slow to kill the medium and heavier bots well. The amount of armor from the lowest to the highest is not enough to replace the lose of a shield system. Yes, advanced metals could give armor a new chance, but the hit points diference from small to large fighters isnt enough at all. There were a few ships with armor at 12k, but the very large fighters needed at least that and didnt get it, while the Rev had 12k as a low level assault ship,(about right btw) the more advanced ships of higher price,(way too cheap) had very little, if any more. Armor on heavy attack ships would be the very best money could buy, better than the heavier armor on the Rev, but at a greatly increased price.I played for a little over a week, with a person with a diferent name in all three factions. true it didnt give me a chance to do the long range fighting and dealing a more hard core player would. But I was here long enough to make millions of dollars and have nothing big to spend it on. Therefore it was a waste of effort. If we have nothing to look foreward to from week to week, then why stay and play? Unless on a side chance you just find someone you like to talk to, but for $10 us a month, chat lines are free. I am sorry if this upsets anyone it was written as a honest way to offer a truely up front revue of this game, my verdict..good game, needs work. Maybe I'll return someday to see if it has improved. ty Kevin Marsh
Yeah, Welcome to space quake.
This game is not Eve, EnB or Star Craft. It is a MMOFPSRPG.
Your review strikes me as though you haven't played the game for long. The game mostly revolves around PVP and as such balance is more important than having wildly different ship styles
A week is not long enough to review the game. To decently review Vendetta I'd expect you to have played for a couple of months, indulged in some PVP, hive hunts, etc and learnt about what the game is really about.

Gads.
I may have to copy and paste it, format it, and then read it again before I can comprehend it. I think I need Ritalin now.

who the hell is Kevin Marsh?
dont worry...a poor review from some one who can not spell simple words or use "spell check" to make them understand how utterly moronic they are is not going to offend anyone.
I had almost lost all hope for reviews...but then I realized this was a 'Revue' instead.
I like revues, I like the singing.
Yawwwwwn.
Worst revue ever. Vaudeville's dead people; and I didn't see nobody in blackface.
As a rule, I don't read paragraphs bigger than my head. Also, the word is review.
I'm with Whistler and Scuba... tl;dr.
My Review of your revue...
Ow. My brain hurts.

Dear Chaser398,
Thank you for your input. You have made many interesting points. I disagree with most of them, but I am a veteran player of VO, and an avid fan of pvp. Although I disagree with most of your points, the fact that you see them as issues can itself be enlightening.
You claim that war would create rapid technological change, and at the same time, significant differentiation between producers. This could be true up to a point, until the invested technology becomes so expensive that it can not be easily obsoleted, at which time, stealing technology could be far more cost effective that creating new designs. This would be the exact opposite of your predictions. Ultra advanced designs would become standard for long periods, and would eventually be copied by everyone.
Large cargo craft are too expensive and the risks of losing them are too high in the current military climate of this part of the galaxy. Even cargo ships need armor, speed, and all to often... weapons. There is no part of the galaxy completely secured for purely civilian pursuits.
You cited great focus on ship armor. Armor is often one of the least significant considerations in ship selection. The Orion Rev-C Centurion is one of the lightest armored ships, but at the same time, one of the most lethal.
Although the game greatly lacks content, what content is available can often occupy players for more than enough time to allow them to become proficient pilots, and introduce then to pvp. It is easy to become too rich, and there is a shortage of content for the pure trader or pure miner. The game has a strong focus on pvp, and pvp constitutes a majority of all expense in the game. I often face a shortage of funds because of my extensive involvement in pvp. If pvp is not your cup of tea, then you may need to carefully consider how much this game can otherwise provide you.
This game is not for everyone. The trial is only about 8 hours of game play. Many players know well within that trial period that the game is, or isn't, for them.
I hope that you consolidate all your revues, and limit your reviews to simple comparisons between the games you have played. You did not list your most favored game to date.

If you guys continue to thrash every new guy that expresses the slightest dislike for the game, you're gonna chase them all off. It's really very elitist to do so, and any other new person that's just browsing the forums will see this thread and may stop playing because of all the negativity. Whistler, I really expected better from you. TRS, Martin, good posts.
Chaser, please don't get rid of any thought of ever returning because of some rude responses to your post. A lot of people here are stickler's for spelling, and also very protective of the game.
As for your main points, I would agree with Martin. For now, most of the gameplay is based on PvP. Until you get up to 4/4/4/~/~ and buy a vulture with neutron blasters and get your nose dirty in a few fights, you won't be able to experience what is currently the core of the game. While I can understand that it's pretty much impossible to accomplish that on a trial and you don't want to spend $10 without having actually "played" the game yet, I would urge you to withhold your final judgments until you've done some serious PvP-ing.

Hey, I'm human too! But ya, I could have done better. I simply didn't have enough time to comprehend it and ought not to have replied at all. It is difficult to value the input of somebody who fails to use proper grammar and spelling. Their failure brings into question their own attention to detail, education, and commitment to communicating their ideas.
WOW, for the first time in a long (maybe ever) time I'm actually somewhat offended by one of Whistlers posts. Having poor spelling and grammar skills does not mean somebody is un-educated or not intelligent. I often mangle words so badly I have to resort to using Google as a spell checker, or even using an online thesaurus because fire fox's spell checker can't decipher my spelling.
That being said Kevin does make some good points about the freighters, but currently your limited by what fits in a docking bay, the XC is a step in the right direction but still it could be made wider (possibly twice as wide) something like that should also have more thruster power so as to still make it able to avoid slamming into roids after jumping into a sector. It really wouldn't stand any worse of a chance getting through than an XC does, when you lose one it hurts more but when one gets through you make more too.

I love suggestions and reviews and the like, but when there's a giant block of unformatted text that I have to work to concentrate on reading, I'm not going to do it.
That being said, if the post was reformatted I would love to give constructive criticism and possibly agree with some points. Otherwise, see my last post.
fakeedit: While poor spelling and grammar skills isn't a hindrance, per-se, but failing to press enter every couple lines is.
And to salvage Whistler's post, he didn't say that having poor communications skills makes them stupid or uneducated. We can clearly tell Kevin is not an english major, which is the extent of the education portion, and it does indeed call into question his attention to detail and commitment of communicating ideas.
'tisn't the best idea to read too deeply into things Lnh.

So don't, but a negative comment isn't necessary.

whistler has his moments too.

That's the difference - YOU take the time to spellcheck your posts. I didn't make any statements about intelligence. Many of the most brilliant people I have ever met are terrible spellers, but they know it and take steps to work around the problem. It makes it easier to get one's ideas across and shows a basic respect for the reader.
I don't think my post needed salvaging, just more careful reading.
