that application icon looks so 16-bit era....

I want a sexy new kickass icon with the next release so I may decorate my desktop with it.

You don't like our simple, clean icon? It's even available up to rather large resolutions, in XP and OS X.

That icon's been in use since before I started playing in September of 2002. I happen to like it.

I like the Icon too, despite its simplicity.

Cunjo, if you are dissatisfied you can create a new icon for yourself and replace it on your own time.

save the icon...

save the icon...

save the icon...

In other words leave it alone, the icon is fine and I like it.

The icon is fine.

It could use a nebula texture in the background oval but eh. It's just the icon. That 10 minutes required to change would be better spent on texturing the Vult (since no one wants to get rid of it...)

it already got a rather nifty light speculum map, or whatever its called...

look at a black vulture and see for yourself

otherwise known as the specular map.

Inc, it's not the resolution, it's that it only uses 256 colors, and therefore looks out of place next to every other icon I have/use.

I wouldn't mind keeping the same icon, but spiffing it up to full 32-bit color would go a long way toward making it look better.

oops. I misread the reason for the posting.. sorry -SarahAnne

You were explaining vocabulary to a previous poster. not calling him names.

You can change the icon yourself Cunjo.

no, unfortunately, I can't, because I can't get a (free) application that can do that.

Uhh, I'm kinda surprised you can tell it's a palletized icon. I mean, there like dark green and light green. And a mild gradient. I never noticed that it looked out of place on the mac at all.

I design stuff for a living and, believe me, the icon is fine. Simple is Good™.

Now, if they'd just use it elsewhere so we'd get some unified design, that would be good.

Hah, Leber.... maybe you should design Guild a new "edit" button. Then you might be able to see it and correct your spelling.

Bloody hypocrite!!!

:P

I have no idea what you're talking about, Inc. Does it make a difference that I'm on a WinXP PC?

It's the only application icon I use that has too few folors to look smooth.

Hm... could it be that if you run the updater app, VO checks on every file to see if it's been tampered with (maybe excluding allowed files like the wgaf.cfg)? I just tried replacing the icon file with something else and had no luck... every time I ran the updater, it reverted back to normal.

And no, the icon doesn't look out-of-place on a mac... at least not on my mac.

It looks real good to me. Especially next to my Descent3 icon. (Now THAT'S pixelated!)

Windows icons are low-res.

get a mac ;)

Seriously, though. LeberMac is dead-on, the KISS principle applies in icon design as it does in many other situations in life.
