Hey folks. Axia Jack has returned with a new plugin for beta testing. Axia Navigation Services tracks ion storms encountered in your or any other participant's travels, and helps you to navigate around them.
To use it, plot your course normally, adding as many waypoints as you like. Then, use the command /plot to get your route adjusted to avoid recently reported ion storms.
You can download it here - http://static.artfulcode.net/vo/axia.tar.gz
If you find any bugs, please report them on this thread.

I've posted an update. If you have downloaded the plugin, you will need to download the update.

How is this different to NavComp?
1. NavComp stores your data locally, so you do not benefit from storms marked by other players
2. NavComp's route generation is slower (client-side lua vs server-side)
3. This plugin is not yet as featureful

Nifty. Is the server-side code made available anywhere?
Once it has been cleaned up enough that I am not too embarrassed to display it in public, it will be on github :)
New version, fixes some namespace issues with other libs using an http library:

Hey Jeff -- been asking for something like this for awhile! Was wondering if you might build in a feature that also just displays a list of systems where storms have been recently sighted in? Like a weather report.
If this info was available then one could make a more informed decision whether or not to worry about mapping around the roid sectors.

Sure. I'd can add something like that.
Also, new version (that does not include greenwall's suggestion yet):

There are API changes, so you'll need to upgrade!

Alright, another quick post that includes greenwall's request for a storm listing:

Use the command "/storm" to get a list of recently reported ion storms.

Another feature update - added support for roids/station/bot sector scanning and evasion. Sectors containing roids, bots, and stations are now reported and will be avoided in nav routes.

cool imma check this out next time I log in
/storm returns "no such command" using the Tuesday 3:14 link.
Sorry, mistyped it - "/storms" - plural.
Alright, next version - 0.7 - is ready:

New features:
* Docking with a station reports items sold by station
* Search items for nearest location of item sold: "/find_nearest ferric ore"
* Search items for cheapest location of item sold: "/find_cheapest ferric ore"
* /plot now accepts an optional argument for the strategy to use when plotting:
- fast: only avoid reported ion storms
- safe: avoid reported ion storms and known roid sectors

Upon entering the game, I get this error message from the plugin. [axia] connection error 400: BAD REQUEST
Are you using the latest version? Does this happen every time you start up? Once the game is loaded, are you able to use the axia plugin?
Version 0.8 is ready. This is mostly bugfixes (but important ones).

Changes:
* Fixes bug preventing arguments to /plot (safe|fast) from being acknowledged
* Some client-side code cleanup
* /find_cheapest and /find_nearest now return more results
* Fast plotting now knows how to avoid roid sectors as waypoints while allowing line segments to cross them
