Changing a light bulb without having an official lightbulbchangingcertificate (similar to a msce) have led to an estimated damage to the world economy of $ 154,234.64 Most people that change light bulbs are untrained, causing dangerous situations. If all people that changed lightbulbs would have a lightbulbchangingcertificate the number of accidents could be reduced with 95%
If a person in a room changes a light bulb, while in the adjacent room somebody is wearing a tutu and is listening to punkmusic, the building will explode. There were numerous cases all over the world of this happening. Each year HUNDREDS of people die while changing light bulbs.
99% of the cases are simply caused by lack of experience by the light bulb changer, and inadequate training. In most scenarios, an emergency plan is not available (and in even fewer cases people are actually aware of that plan), turning a minor accident into a major disaster.
In most cases, hiring a mechanic is the safest option as most people don't have the know-how, education, talent and skills to replace a light bulb.

Me three
You know, one time my light went like.. you know, like, boom. It just exploded, like a, you know, big light, you know, came from it. That was really like, so cool, you know. That was really cool you know. So then I went like: 'like, you see, like, I like that lamp to be, you know, like, replaced, you know, like this'.
And then you know, it was replaced, like so. As putting the lamp in the socket or something you know, just like that.
Really cool...
/me looks at his own post in absolute silence

This problem is impossible to solve without first establishing the TYPE of bulb. If it's a Type "A" bulb (the most common in the US) then there's one answer, but other types present more or less surface area for grasping, variances in thread width and length, and so on. Define your terms, man!
I agree with FM!
/me prays he doesn't get a warning
Naw, I had something like Sheean's happen to me once at an Elementary School Science Fair 4 years ago.
/me plays cheesy flashback jingle and makes your screen all wavy by pressing the De-Mag button
I was setting up my project and I was maybe 2-3 feet from a Blacklight thingy (one of those long tubes with gas instead of filament) and I finish I mosy around while waiting for a judge to come register me and the whole thing just goes BLOOEY! I got a chuck of glass in my palm and got blamed for it, my teacher didnt listen to three people who saw the blast and saw me walk towards it, from 6 feet away...
Moral of the story: Don't ever go near a 6th grade teacher, and oh yeah, dont trust those bulbs, they have a tendeancy to, uhh, COMBUST without warning.

/me wonders about the blacklight incident
is that within the bundaries of "normal"?
i have never heard of lamps exploding...
i saw a fluorescent one implode once, yes, but...

I suppose it's possible for the gas to be heated to the point where it expands enough to make the lamp explode...
