I'll address this once and completely. Are British and American troops lesser men for using the tanks of today against two-decade old Soviet armor? If you answer no, then neither are prometheus pilots doing any less than choosing the best weapon available to them in the interest of victory.

I don't use them because they're heavy, and that is counter to my style, but the same idea holds. I'm not about to downgrade to a mkIV vulture just to make the enemy feel more evenly matched; I'll use the SVG that the Devs graciously provided. As much as I feel helpless against a Valkyrie, I won't deny or even discourage the right of Itani pilots to fly them.

What about RP-ing in this forum?

That people do not quite enjoy fighting promjocks is true but they also die, just, it takes more time and patience since majority of promjocks are using no brain agt and flare combo.

Because of its uber armor, agility and whatnot, yadayadayada, its a general consensus that promjocks do not deserve a fair fight but should instead be ganked.
End of story.

Nobody forbids you to use it and i dont think anyone will hate you for it.
Some players will avoid fighting you, others will group up to kill, some wont mind and will just use their skill and expirience to blast your prom and thats it.

Please do take some time and go check old threads about prom balance.

Edit: just for the record, its far easier to kill an average promjock then expirienced pilot in a SVG.

Yeah, SCP's are vastly superior to almost any other ship in the game, and therefore I feel no guilt for ganking anyone flying a SCP. Promjocks should EXPECT this treatment. Most of the experienced ones DO.

Now, as it stands, warzones like in the ITANI system of Deneb, where we have to fight to repel the bloodthirsty aggressive Serco thugs, are not dueling sectors. They are battlezones where the objective is to kill the enemy. Now, whether that's 5-on-1 or 5-on-5, it matters not.

The ship matters not as well. I've been on the receiving end of a triple-prom threat when I was in a Rev C before, and you'll never hear me whining about "It's soooo unfair that I died 20 times trying to take those 3 pilots on! $#%&@$ Gankers!" I mean, it sucks and all, but hey, the more times I survive multis like that, the better I get. (Well, supposedly.)

Still with the rhetoric though. It fascinates me how "you'll never hear me whining about" seems to apply to every Itani pilot, who at the same time is in fact complaining here. You all prove my point. I don't care if you target them first. That is called tactics, and for those I applaud you. What I want is an end to the rhetoric.

@bojan: I maintain that you'd take offense if people said using valks was unfair. The point of my modern day reference was that during combat, you use what you've got, and that's life. This is a perfect correlation to today. To heck with Iraq, this isn't about politics. I picked American and British tanks only because they are masters of their domain (as you claim proms are in VO). If my choppers eat your tanks, that doesn't make me a cobra-jock or cheap and overpowered and unbalanced. Adapt and overcome people. This is my argument. I don't address game balance nor do I care. The whining and rhetoric is boring. Adapt and overcome.

I fondly remembered being ganked by 4-5 SCAR SCP-jocks in Latos H2. I took out a hornet, armed it with 4 neutrons, and shot a couple down.

Oh I died a few hundred times, but it amused me when some of the jocks started to msg/sector-chat/100-chat about how uber they were. One of them thought I was u.c. too and asked me how I felt being "pwned 5 times. F.I.V.E.".

Anyway, I don't mind all this prom-jock ganking blah-blah, so I think whining about being ganked in a SCP is rather pathetic. Ganking is part of the game, as are SCPs.

Here is the reason why people complain about ganking : it's all they have to complain since it's all about stats in this game now, as players action do NOT matter in this game.o people gank to pad their K/D ratios, and people complained about being ganked because of their K/D ratios.

(Btw, if you feel ganked in a SCP is not survivable, let me tell you a test that BLAK had a long time ago :

4 Rev C vs 1 SCP. Result : draw

The pilots are

Rev C : Martin, Tramshed, Niki and myself (when I could actually fight heh)
SCP : Shape.

There is a way to fight gankers in a SCP, and it's really not that hard. You will, of course, have to learn it by fighting ganks and not complaining about it. The reduced torque does not affect this fighting method too much. Martin used to take on multis in his SCP and win.

And yeah, it's Niki the special one :))

Honor/gank threads are stupid. You don't want to face a SCP, run the hell away. Same for swarms.

Swarms are just as legitimate. As are binds. And other things.

I'll be honest. During the "pirate war" I didn't care too much about being ganked, because I knew sometime we'd return the favor. It's a game, one that doesn't change much as far as long term effects go (Please don't mention CTC, I'll just laugh). So just go out and have fun and don't let your egos get in a bunch.

I think that perhaps, when stats are more than the entireity of this game, then it would make sense to balance the prom.

As for the initial assertion, that people are whining because they are taking the equivalent of soviet era tanks into battle on a modern battleground, that's just absurd. In real life, technology is advanced over time, in this game, we have what the Devs give us, and as it stands, there is nothing near the capabilities of a prom.

It begs the question, what are all these other ships for?

I don't generally fly the prom, its just too damn easy. I want a challenge.

Lets see what else the devs bring out. Up until then this is just a game of scrimmages... one which I'm not really into playing right now.

The issue for me is not people flying proms. It's people flying proms who refuse to believe that they are the most powerful ship in the game, and then ask for a "fair" fight in one. No, you should not downgrade your ship for a fair fight. Fly a prom. All I ask is that the pilot recognizes that the prom is more versatile in combat than any other ship in the game. It gives him a distinct advantage in combat. There's nothing wrong with this, you should take every advantage that you can get. But when I see a prom and gank it, don't whine to me about fair fights.

Notice that the only pilot in here who flies the prom is.. Shape. And he doesn't fly them by choice. I don't recall anyone in this thread whining about fair fights while IN a prom. That is in fact what I've tried to eliminate: the whining.

I have a bit of experience in the prom as well. I wouldn't judge it if I hadn't flown it a great deal. Though it's true that I don't think anyone in this thread is guilty of whining about fair fights while in a prom, I still recieve plenty of pm's from prom pilots complaining about being teamed up on.

I do agree, it is the whining in general that needs to go. Perhaps a "Stop Whining" thread in the suggestions forum is in order? =)

Excuse me Aramarth, I can stand whiners. What I *can't* stand, is, people who are so clueless/self-absorbed that can't admit what they have done for what they are, and uses language-kungfu to fudge around things. It reminds me too much of a certain person whose name starts with "A".

You came here to whine about people not giving you respect for driving the prom and gets pwned by people telling you they don't really care whether you drive the prom or not. Just take it, and don't give us teh BS.

I don't take offense when someone calls me unfair for using a valk. Usually it's a promjock who died to my valk whining so it doesnt matter.
For any other pilot who wants a consentual fight and is unhappy about me using a valk i usually switch to some other ship.
In a non consentual fights nobody gives a damn anyway.
And to tell you the truth, valk is not so uber. I killed valks in ec107, rev c, ibg, marauder, taur, wraith... almost any ship available in VO.
And, sadly, when in my valk i go against an expirienced light fighter using SVG, rev c or vulturis I usually end up as scrap metal.

Ahh the Prommy. Those were fun days, though obviously not so fun if you kept running into them.

I also don't think there's much issue with people ganking Prom pilots. If they choose to fly the biggest baddest ship in the universe then they should expect others to take advantage of surprise and guerilla tactics.

You fly the Prom, you should be expecting complaints, ganks and other fun stuff.
