NOTORIOUS PIRATE VANISHES
Earlier last month, reports that Notorious Pirate Tumblemonster had moved into UIT space and been terrorizing pilots and station security in UIT Capitol Stations in Dau and Arta Caelistis began flooding CNN offices throughout known space.
A cursory glance at public com records indicates Tumblemonster was on a campaign of revenge against several groups he termed "self righteous pompous asses". Tumblemonster mercilessly attacked and murdered hundreds of defenseless new pilots, all the while evading the apparently inept defense forces of the UIT and pro-UIT guilds such as the CDC, SCC and The Vipers.
Sightings have now ceased, and Tumblemonster is nowhere to be found.
A Curious History...
Who was Tumblemonster? It depends on who you ask. Some call him a generous friend and comrade, others a respected enemy, a ruthless killer, and yet others call him a loudmouth whiny brat. Descriptions from various sources include every adjective and cuss word in the dictionary, and some that aren't. Mention of Tumblemonster evokes righteous anger, fond memories, disgust, anger, and admiration. Who is right?
Likely all of them.
Records are sparse. Official records are either sealed or don't exist at all. The Serco Nation has no record of Tumblemonster ever existing. Itani records show an admired ally in good standing with the Nation, an unblemished record, and yet Tumblemonster was a known and open pirate. The UIT lists him only as a KOS target, but have no open records of his offenses.
Unofficially, stories abound. Which are true is hard to say. We know he was reasonably wealthy. Some rumors put his fortune at over a billion credits. CNN has traced these rumors and learned that most of them were propagated by Tumblemonster himself, and that his actual fortune was closer to 350 million.
Tumble had a harem where he purportedly placed his most offensive enemies, although whether any of them actually spent time in his harem is hard to say. Thus far only one member, Mecha Touriaus (the first member of his harem), has actually admitted to being in the harem.
Tumblemonster was a member of the Black Lance Guild, one of the last new members they recruited before they disbanded a year after he joined. He later joined some of his former BLAK comrades in The Cargo Liberation Movement. He also apparently tried to join the Vipers several times, hinting at a nobility he rarely showed in public.
Tumble was known to be most lethal in a ship setup he nicknamed "The Atlas of DOOOM!" He ruthlessly hunted his enemies, and ruthlessly protected his friends. His friends say he was Fearless. He was also known to be an obnoxious hothead, often taking the smallest offense personally and broadcasting it incessantly throughout the galaxies com networks.
Where the easily substantiated ends, boundless rumors begin.
Tumblemonster apparently gave countless millions to the same new pilots he destroyed in Nation space, but none of them will talk about it. There is rumor that Tumble was also a Serco pilot called Passion, but Passion was a woman. Others have suggested that Tumble is in fact Lebermac, but it's extremely unlikely, as they were often seen in the same sector fighting.
Where the unlikely rumors end, the truly extreme begin. Some have claimed Tumble was an alien. A schizophrenic transvestite in Odia claimed Tumblemonster could read minds. Others have said he could destroy their ships with a glance. Physically, he was described as everything from brutish and imposing to diminutive and unthreatening. When pressed, most people can't remember what he actually looked like, and some aren't sure they'd ever seen him in person, even though they were known to have met. He rejoined CLM hours before he vanished, and yet no one in CLM can remember him ever leaving.
Where did he go?
Short answer: No one knows. CLM isn't talking. An anonymous source inside the UIT government claims the UIT have him in a secret prison. Another Serco source claims the Serco have him. Several Guilds and pilots have claimed to have killed him, but none have produced any evidence to back up the claim.
Another man has this to say: "It's Blak! [The now disbanded Black Lance Guild -ed.] Has to be. They're like 50-armed puppeteers, pulling their strings all over the galaxy, steering every one of us toward their own devious end game!"
It's known Tumble transferred a substantial amount of money to Lebermac hours before he vanished. Could he really be Leber? Very few people believe it's possible. Could he have simply slipped into another identity? Much of his substantial fortune remains unaccounted for. All the bank records have been erased or never existed. None of Tumble's stock of ships and weapons can be found. Every cargo locker in his name is suddenly and mysteriously empty.
What happened to Tumblemonster? We may never know, but one thing is certain: The Galaxy is now a safer place.
One final footnote. Just before this story went to press, several pilots claimed to have seen a ghost ship firing on them in Sedina and Latos, only to see the ship suddenly disappear, having done no damage.
The ship they see? A TPG Atlas Type X, otherwise known as the Atlas of Doom.

Let us have a moment of YARR!
good riddance.
There's always Lecter if we ever again need someone to "terrorize" newbies.
3 times YARR! to Tumble

Maybe his disappearance has something to do with that shipment of Xang Xi plasma grenades that went missing on the same day as that Sedina D-14 deck collapse..
There is, huh?
Good Evening, Vendetta! It's Tuesday, January 30, 4435, and this... is "The Lowdown" with Sally Koshuni... on today's exciting news program...
"Can PyroCo emerge from Chapter 11 Bankruptcy after the series of lawsuits related to its popular Xithrilite beverage?"
-SWOOOSH-
"We send our intern deep undercover into Azek's notorious I-4 Deck 2 Lounge... you'll be amazed at what goes in in this depraved nightclub... and we've got Video!"
-SWOOOSH-
"But first, our feature... An exclusive interview with LeberMac, newly elected Lieutenant of [ITAN], and the subject of rumors circulating after the disappearance of Tumblemonster."
Sally Koshuni: (Turns away from camera to look at LeberMac, seated opposite.) LeberMac, Hello.
LeberMac: (Looking into wrong camera.) Hello, Sally.
SK: No, over here, sir. No.. no.. over here... this camera here. Yes. <sigh> Alright. Now, when did you first meet Tumblemonster?
LM: About 18 months ago.
SK: Tell us about that first meeting.
LM: He shot me a lot and I died.
SK: ...
LM: (looks around nervously)
SK: (clears throat) Ahem, yes, well, how did you come to be associated with the pirate?
LM: We fought a lot when he was in [BLAK] and I was in [IA]. He was one of the few [BLAK] pilots that I could defeat.
SK: Wait, you mean you've actually gotten PK's off of tumblemonster?
LM: A couple, maybe 5 or 6.
SK: (Shakes head and scribbles notes in her datapad...) Oh really? tsk, tsk...
LM: What?
SK: Nothing, nothing. I just... thought [BLAK] was... better than that...
LM: What? (Looks around)
SK: Nevermind that, Lieutenant, let's cut to the chase, shall we?
LM: (Thoroughly confused now) OK... wait, what?
SK: It's been recorded by Itani nation Jallik surveillance drones that Tumblemonster gave you over 60 million credits in the days before he disappeared. Can you confirm this?
LM: Um, yeah... he gave me some money...
SK: 60 Million?
LM: (fidgets uncomfortably) Ahem... yes, something like that.
SK: What was the money for?
LM: I don't know. We got along, even though he was a pirate and I was pretty much anti-pirate for most of my life.
SK: You claim NOT to know why this known felon gave you 60 million credits. This pirate, this villain. That's an awful lot of money, isn't it?
LM: Yeah, it's great! I can visit Deck 2 on Azek as much as I... want... now... (realizes he's on camera) ... foooor my Orion Meetings, yeah! Those meetings that are on deck 2... meetings...
SK: (Blinks, looks at LeberMac in disgust and scribbles more notes in her datapad...)
LM: (adjusts collar and wipes brow)
SK: You've been a member of [CLM], right?
LM: [CLM]?
SK: Yes, yes. The Cargo Liberation Movement.
LM: Oh, right, that.
SK: In fact, you were a member of the same pirate guild that Tumblemonster was a Councilmember of, is that correct?
LM: Well, I think...
SK: In fact, he lobbied the leadership of that guild to allow you entry, did he not?
LM: I don't know the details...
SK: And during that time, isn't it true that you and Tumblemonster were never seen in the same sector?
LM: Well, we had a lot of pirating to do, and we may not have crossed paths as much as others...
SK: You recently were resurrected from a respawning chamber in the Lexicon incident, correct?
LM: Yes...
SK: Look at this, it's service record, serial number 55140. Clearly designates KIA, deceased status.
LM: Right, that's my old record.
SK: Now, look at this, it's a completely new record, isn't it? A new serial number!
LM: Well... yes, but...
SK: Do you deny that LeberMac is dead? The records CLEARLY indicate that he is no longer. Why the new identity? Why the new serial number? Why the attempt to separate yourself from the old LeberMac? What are you trying to HIDE?
LM: No, you're getting this all wrong...
SK: Don't you think it's convenient? LeberMac dies, this "Lexicon" supposedly resurfaces as LeberMac's Serco clone, and then lo and behold, scant weeks before Tumblemonster disappears, a new LeberMac miraculously is born and proceeds to receive MASSIVE amounts of cash from Tumblemonster.
LM: Whoa, whoa whoa...
SK: (rises from chair) Just ADMIT IT!
LM: Admit what?
SK: (screaming) YOU ARE TUMBLEMONSTER!
LM: Whaaaat? Now wait just a second you crazy bitch...
SK: Can you deny it? The limited interaction even though you shared a guild, almost never being in the same sector at the same time, the "new" LeberMac's appearance at almost the same time as Tumblemonster's disappearance, the transfer of a huge amount of credits from one character to another, it's just all so VERY convenient...
LM: I am... NOT... Tumblemonster!
SK: I beg to differ, whoever you are. In fact, I've already called for an official Itani military investigation into this matter, and we'll soon get to the bottom of this, one way or another!
LM: (Lunges for Sally's throat but is restrained by several large security guards) You'll pay for this, Koshuni! I swear you'll never work in news again! I'll sue! I'll... oof! Hey! Ow!
(LeberMac thrown off sound stage by security)
SK: And there you have it, circumstantial evidence that in fact the newly-elected Lieutenant of the [ITAN] military is indeed, none other than the notorious pirate Tumblemonster. This is Sally Koshuni, and I'll be following up with the Itani military tribunal on next week's program.
SK: And now... a word from our sponsors...

Hey! I am not tumblemonster!
*whistles*
I would highly doubt that the Union has custody of Tumble. Believe me, peacekeeping has tried, but he tends to be a slippery devil. And besides that, I would probably have heard about his capture from my old buddies in the corps. I suppose that Navy Intel could have nabbed him, but it doesn't seem likely.
As for Leber being Tumble, I really don't think it adds up. Sure the money is suspicious, but ex-BLAK members are the textbook definition of suspicious.
And the XithriLite? We used to chuck them at hostile targets by the crate-full back when I was still in active service. Cheaper and more effective than most military-grade granades.

lol
Ahh... XithriLite. I remember when we were celebrating in locker room after a big scuffle with BLAK. Epideme tossed one of those to a rookie, I can't remember his name, but he was a little too unfamiliar with XithriLite and well... there's still a scorch mark in the locker room. Man, that was a mess, it took out 12 lockers and a bench. I'll never be able to replace that bomber jacket.
Leebs we gotta work on your PR skills...

Two distinct differences exists between Tumblemonster and Lebermac.
Tumble may be a hothead, but would never betray his guildmates, Lebermac still wont come into a sector with me after what he did....nuff said.
