Despite the problems I mentioned in suggestions, the ten minute capital ship battle was the most fun I've had in a long time. THANK YOU DEVS! (by devs I mean a1k0n, cause he was the one talking at the time ;) )
The past three months of pay were just validated. God I love this game.

Way to go guys.
great job guys!!
I only have an Itani character, so I have yet to see the cap ship with the new turrets, but I will agree, GOOD JOB DEVS! Just the simple buz on the chat about something new and cool is great to have.
Now if we can only get it out of serco space so we can kill it...he he

why sedina b8 guys? cap ship goes to there?
Last nights cap ship skirmish was simply the most fun I've had in a long time in a game!
I think the whole community will agree that we more than appreciate the hard work the devs are doing to keep the game fresh and fun!
I'm psyched looking forward to whatever your collective imaginations come up with down the road :)
Keep it up Devs!

Yes GRAIG,
Every once in a while (I think it's less than the 6 hours the Serco Nemisis takes), three cap ships appear, one in each nation's space. After about 10 minutes, they head off to Sedina B-8 for a showdown with the pirates. The one time I went along for the ride, the cap ships parked too far away from each other for cap ship vs. cap ship fighting, but there's plenty of other attackers to deal with.

I wanted to make this auto-restart itself but I didn't have a reliable way to do it yesterday so the three-cap-ship thing needs to be started manually. I'll do it again later.
w00tedfullness!
yes praise to the devs for giving us UIT players access to the cap ships by flying them to Sedina B-8!!!! what a fun last night! Thanks! :D
oops, I think i killed the serco cap ship hehe, I had to fire at it in my valk for quite a while, talk about armor, and it was already down at like 15% when i started attacking it.... :)

This was neat, OK, there were a few issues, as pointed out by other players, but, WOW.
I lost a 1.8 mill bounty I was so excited (I actually had said on 100 if anyone shot at me I would press my /explode key, well I forgot about the bounty, hehe) I was like wow, a cap ship I can blow up, and will!!! /me went boom, hehe
But seeing all this in action just made me think of even more possiblities, and scenarios, good times, good times.

I had fun, too. I liked it when the Itani capship arrived in B8 and I was finally able to dock with it. Cost me 3 or 4 ships just trying. I think maybe I should have waited til it was stationary. Getting in and driving the turrets was fun. Oh, how I wanted to take the helm and steer it out of there when it was being pummeled by pirates. In the end, I bailed before it exploded, fought some pirates, and escaped with my life, but not before seeing the IDV Sola explode in huge, blazing chunks of wreckage.
Docking is fun. It's like landing on an aircraft carrier, except backwards - you have to get out in front of the bay then drift in instead of the traditional burn in and turn at the last second while mashing enter.
For those of you unable to see a frigate explode, or just have to see it again...

Not quite the same as seeing it up close, mostly because of the horrible FPS.

Best part is, the chunks flying off can be interacted with :)
Agreed. 3 cheers for the devs. I stayed up way too late Thursday night playing with the cap ships. That was a blast.
Regarding the awesome explosions: What? No O-rings and twisted tubing? (ala Wing Commander I & II ;)

Yes!!!!! Thank you devs! The cap ship fights are awesome :)
@Lemming: How do take screen shots such as those, without anything showing on the screen other than space itself?

H toggles the hud... or at least it does on the old configs :/
