In case you aren't aware of it; you're the 18211210th person to say this.
Whats the point, anyway? It's not like we don't know the Community sucks at this point.
Did you post this thread simply to remind the Developers of Vendetta that they can't do anything about how people act in their game? Is it to inform the newbies that Vendetta sucks? Or, perhaps, is it to clutter the board up EVEN more than it already is?
Sorry, but I have lost my patience with posts of this type.

Sorry, but I have lost my patience with posts of this type.
just making a voice heard in another community.
(I am a 3 year vet in Tachyon Base Wars )
if you puruse my site (link above)
youll notice i get fully behind Space Oriented games
i feel deserves support.
for instance Tach community basiclally SHUNNED Freelancer due to no Joystick support.
no support = no support.
for anyone looking for a change of pace i suggest the following:
Tachyon The Fringe: Base Wars, Allegiance (source code recently released)
Starshatter,Freespace, Starlancer, Homeworld, HALO ,Tribes Vengeance,UT-XMP
I have beta tested , EVE Online,Earth and Beyond,
Jumpgate, Darkspace.
However...
ive suggested my friends steer clear of this "test" all it does is add grief to an alrerady hard life.
test current design encourages players to make life really miserable for the new guy.
theres no point in my recommending this to anyone.
ingame behavior has a direct effect to the financial bottom line.
if the game design tends to make ppl feel unwelcome they wont stay or pay the monthly fee.
financial loss.
remember that.
i may be just 1 person. but i know many.
my words carry weight in other communities.
games are for relaxation and enjoyment,
a test of skill, and honor, if you will,
not being constantly harrassed/rammed/killed needlessly
/called a nOOb/ blinsided killings, etc, the list goes on and on.
i communicated all this to A.K.A / he was nice enough to give me a mil to toy with the ships and fly each one and test all weaps.
then i in turn give to my buddy 200k so he can enjoy flying/testing all the cool ships.
we were doing sec 17-18 buying a marauder for him.
no sooner had he bought it then he was obliterated by Florian.
i even asked him not to kill him BUT NOOOOO
screw all that, he killed him and wasted about an hours time finding secs 17-18 and getting to the base to make the purchase.
TESTING?
IN ANOTHER INSTANCE...
but how can i test a ship if after the purchase i get rammed into walls at the dock leaving?
i lost a centaur and a full load about 50k loss total.
not to mention my wits.
and my enthusiasm to continue testing.
cant fly/ cant test/ its over.
either the devs step in and get a grip or this all is for naught.
and whats with the valk? a faster ship than anything and stronger hull than most?
you call that "balance"?
that ship alone is responsible for most of the harrassment.
this is not a way to control a "test"....
the only thing tested here was my sanity, and my patience.
now you know how this human feels.
i brought 3 ppl into this game EDIT: OOPS SORRY, "TEST" from my community, now i feel sorry i ever mentioned the word "vendetta"
i dont know how many ppl they told .
but now they know how i feel and they pretty much agree that this isnt something we want .
and you dont even care.
you prove my point.
vendetta has been deleted from my machine.
JUST TO BE FAIR :
IF the game is ever released i will revisit Vendetta again and give it a deserving review.
thats only fair.
goodbye.

Wow, this is probably one of the major reasons most game tests are not open to the public. People like you who judge a totally unfinished product and post about it on MSN. That's really low, Dude. You're not hurting the jerks who upset you, you're hurting the devs who were kind enough to let us all into the test in the first place.
Asp
Asp
just let him be...
it's sad that he's going to yap it to everyone he knows, but the best we can do is help so the test is finished as soon as possible, so he can be proven otherwise.

He's right though. Not a single person here can deny this.
I've already told all people I know not to bother with vendetta. It's not that the game is bad but the community is just awful and it's not really worth my time when there are other games for me to play especially as my time is limited.
The sad thing is though it's not even the devs fault as people should be responsible for their own actions.

Ay,
game aint bad, not bad at all.
But the community "actually it aint the community", it are some person inside the community that dont understand that this test is to enjoy and help the devs not to feel l33t and whatever and annoy the little guy that comes in and takes a peek.
If you start going around killing newbies take a break for crying out loud. It means that you ran out of stamina and need to recharge not go full out crazy and on a rampage.
People should think back of the old days and implement those in the new days. Meaning:
non hostile --> non hostile, so leav ethose buggers alone
if you want to waste money and have "fun" start a war with people that want to wage war "example is SAW - INM", if people dont want to be involved then leave them alone. It aint hard just keep your finger away from the firebutton. Let new people see why you guys are so interested in the game dont hunt them away it wil only hurt you since you will hav eless people to have fun with :(.
PLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEEE stop pirating and go to war in stead, do duels in stead, if you need money, go trade. Or pirate ONLY in the sectors 17 - 18. Make gettign another nations special hard :D. Imagine that 18 is the piratebase and that 17 is only possible option to +- patrol. Show some courtesy, let other people have some fun and let them feel like they didnt completely waste their time when they played this game/test. If you are gettig tired of all that then please take a break dont just go in a frenzy :(.
Anyway as usually I will be pleading in deaf mans ears :(.
cheers

Well, I think Slippster was exaggerating a few aspects of the game currently. However, he was correct in my opinion on a few things regarding the community.
I think the problem with all MMOGs is the people. There is no way anybody is going to be able to make a person behave online if s/he doesn't want to. Maybe it's just a way for people to escape from the normal rules of society (i.e. not killing people for no reason....not killing people). But I do believe as the Vendetta universe gets larger, this problem will become less prominent. For instance, how about flying around in your normal sectors, and then you decide to see what's over behind that asteroid? Lo and behold, you have just discovered a new set of sectors that you have never seen before. These in turn branch off to OTHER sets of sectors. Can you see what I'm aiming at? Eventually, I think you will be able to /hidelog permanently, and simply enjoy yourself exploring, trading, and other things like that. Of course, on the popular trade routes there will still be pirates, and that's ok. Trading is made more exciting by pirates. Not at the current moment, however, because if you're in a centaur, and you run into a tri-flare valk pirate, there's really not much you can do. But EVENTUALLY, things will start to even themselves out, and the people of Vendetta will become less of a problem.
Summary: people suck.

Slippster, you know this is a game right? No offensce, but your complaining like a newb. You die in the game... so What? Yes it ruins your fun, but thats how a game is. If everything was all 'peaceful' in this game, you know how damn boring that would be? What are you going to do all day in the game? Trade?
This is a test, your right, but its not testing the game, its an ENGINE TEST. We are here to test the 'engine' of the game, not the game itself. We are lucky that the devs even TRY to balence this game.
I agree, the community here is.. well a little... bad, but every game has some sort of 'bad' community somewhere. But all you really have to do is just use the /hidelog command and you can just have fun trading in Vendetta :).

I couldn't care less if you were the King of Uzbekistan. Get lost.

Let's just leave this and wave this "Slippster" goodbye with pleasure. There is absolutely no point in making yet another topic of this kind stay on the top of the webboard index for any longer.

Big deal, some guy thinks he's hot...stuff because he lacks proper grammar and runs some site? I'm sure the Devs are shivering in their boots about the influence he has over others. If he researched the test at all, he'd realize that it IS just a test of a game engine, not a test of an actual game. Also, I do remember hearing about a system that'd be implemented that would reduce griefing newbies. Something about police bots or something, based on your honor ranking. I might be completely wrong about that, but it sounds a bit familiar.
I don't quite see what you're so upset about. So you got some free money without learning the basics of the game, did a lot of stupid crap, and then got killed a few times.
Well, guess what, that's no-ones fault but your own, and possibly A.K.A's for giving you so much starter money. When you start playing a new game you learn the basics, get better, make some moolah (on your own) and THEN you go out and play with everything you can find. Doing it all the other way around is just pointless and frustrating.

It should sound familiar. The devs have said before that there will be a reputation system in the final product, but they have other things to work on (like missions!).

I think the reason why the community is so bad can be displayed in comic form
and hey look here one is! http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3

It's a public test. It is not for everyone. It is not balanced, it lacks many features, and many of the features are not complete. This is not a secret. This information is given before the game is downloaded. You are invited here to do a job, and in exchange you get 24/7 access to the game and an opportunity to help shape it. If you don't like it, leave. If you kinda liked it, come back in a month or two and see how it has changed. There's nothing to be gained by going on a multi-website rant. In the unlikely event that a publisher would be swayed by such an obvious frustration rant, you would only be compounding the problems you have complained about by reducing the cash flow needed to make the game ready for market.
As for the community, the worst thing about it is that people state it is bad and do nothing about it, or engage in the same behaviour they complain of because "everyone else is doing it". I'm pretty sure that I am the have been playing the longest of any of you, and have never taken time away from the community. I started in 2.4-something. I have seen this community change as it grows. All communities change as they get larger, it's a sociological fact. We have more sociopaths, but we also have more solid playtesters. I don't think the community is THAT bad.
YOU, the user, must take responsibility for your own behavior - regardless of what others are doing. Thats the only way to deal with the negative aspects of the community and still keep the freedoms we enjoy.
The other ways are much more oppressive: pay to play will eliminate most of the kids and create a financial incentive to behave, much heavier-handed moderation could be instituted, the test could be closed in between updates, all unverifiable accounts could be deleted and a waiting list to be verified for an account could be begun.

I agree. There's no point of going anywhere but your home sectors. That is, without getting shot at.
Now I'm a person who has played this game for over a year and the community has gone up and down. You CAN NOT base your review off how the community acts, you play the game and figure out how to do stuff without dieing or getting friends to help you out when you are in need. I mean when I see this...
"i lost a centaur and a full load about 50k loss total.
not to mention my wits.
and my enthusiasm to continue testing. "
My first thoughts come to mind, plz leave and don't make a scene. Asp was right, what you did here was low, as Whistler has said and others, this is a TEST. You play it, make your own fun, and submit bugs when ever you run across them. If you lose a ship learn from that experience. Our top pilots in this game didn't go around whining or complaining when they got pwned by a pirate in this game(occasionally one or two do). They tried again and again until they had the skill to attack the pirates back. In any game that has PvP there is going to be people that make the game not fun but you just need to ignore that and just play. Vendetta has changed so much since I've been here even more for people like Whistler and they are still here. So just enjoy the game as it progresses :)
Well that concludes this post...

The risk of 100% pvp. AND WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU PLAY AROUND IN 18!?!?
Anyway, quit whining, this is a test, you are one insignifcant person that I will blow to hell if i ever do you see you on release, just because you whine like this.

I agree with StarFreeze and FM a 100%, if you dont like the game then dont play. I myself have been getting creamed by the SAW and hate it but I dont stop playing, I just keep going becuase theres awlays new things to do. (I finally got the frigate killed :P ).
