Some of you are prolly wondering WTF is going on. hehee...I don't know exactly either except for the fact the server is kicking people off like crazy(and randomly). The new server wasn't put in tonight so you arent seeing the new powerful server in action. :) So just hold in there and the devs shall have it fixed tomorrow(or later today if you look at it that way). :)

At this point, the devs have probably only had an hours sleep, So wait it out, Or check back later. Im sure whatever it is, they will have it fixed soon enough.

yes its still haywire everytime i try to connect it eather lets me in or doesnt but when it does after a few mins it craps out

Infact not only can this happen with a test, It can happen with full blown published games, Ive seen downtime in all sorts of games, from Everquest to Army Ops

a1k0n needed a card to get into where the game server is held, and well, midnight is not exactly a good time to get the card.

Sorry people. This was a dumb software failure on the old server hardware. I didn't even think to look at it this morning since we've been able to take for granted the stability of the server for the last few months.

It's back up now, but it may crash again. The issue isn't fully debugged. This isn't too surprising, considering how pervasive the code changes were. It happens every time: substantial new server code always works perfectly in our own tests, and blows up after actual users have messed with it for an hour.

It'll probably be a few days before the server code is totally stabilized, and we're rolling out the new server hardware today. So, I'm afraid we'll have to expect further outages.

Of course, just when I get a day off, and was going to play all day while gentoo installed on the laptop... the server goes down for most of the morning :p...
Oh well. Guess It was kind of entertaining to stare at emerge sync emerge -k gentoo-sources and emerge -k genkernel

Why would you want to create a package of gento-sources? And why on earth would you use genkernel? It's broken and useless...

a1k0n: Question for you, what OS does the gameserver(s) run? As I've understood it each sector is separate (at least in process?) but, how are things really hanging together?

I assumed you meant -K, since there is no package for a kernel....
