FYI, see the recent newspost.
Amazing. Well done, Guild Software.
Guess I'll have to wait for all the guineapigs^W Windows users to work out all of the crippling headaches. :)
I just hope you'll continue to add more features and content.
Vendetta online in virtual reality. I think my head may just explode. But, can you like even order oculus rifts yet?
Whoop, this is like Christmas. Three updates in quick succession, all of them pretty good!
Pup: a dev kit prototype can be ordered for $300. It looks like their target market right now are devs and "hardcore enthusiasts". I'll probably wait until things move into the early adopter phase (this is my personal viewpoint, and not to dissuade anyone from pre-ordering a rift prototype; some may see the early adoption phase as already being here).
So, does this mean the game can decouple looking from turning now? I'd really like to be able to use my joystick's POV hat for it's intended purpose. :)
Just saw it on slashdot, if that still matters these days :-)
Awesome. I need to sub again or something, these changes are cool. And glad to see more than Android/ifad updates.

If supporting the Rift is all they manage to accomplish for the next four months, I'll still be happy. This is something that is actually relevant to real human beings. (Mobile users are basically just cattle, when you get right down to it.)

cool, so vo was released on a new platform that nobody plays! what a great update!
I'm not even sure calling it a platform is... accurate; more a piece of hardware. Getting in on the Rift now (whatever you want to call it) strikes me as a very smart move by Guild Software; it seems to me as though the Rift has the potential to be about as revolutionary as affordable cell phones were in the late 90's, with applications for everything from medicine to stock trading. We're talking about technology in the range of $12k being condensed down into a $300 package, and that is before even hitting the consumer market.
Anyway, Vendetta doesn't have the huge player base that some other more mainstream MMOs do, so getting in on nascent technology early means more time to build momentum. This is something that is certainly worth one man-week, as Inc puts it.

There is a tremendous amount of interest in the Oculus Rift in the tech and PC gaming worlds (it is supported on Windows/Mac/Linux, just not by us as of yet). So aside from the fact that we think the device is cool and has a lot of potential, we've also gotten a big press bump from this release (Polygon, PC Gamer, Joystiq, Warcry, MMORPG.com, Bluesnews, Slashdot front-page, Reddit, and 30+ other outlets..).
So, even if you have no interest in the Rift, take some solace that exposure is good for the game, and it didn't take us long to do.

Don't mind Greenwall. He's still sore from the Avalon money bug being fixed. :)
What bug was that?
Just reactivated today to try out the Rift support. Other than the drift (mentioned in the update), it's pretty incredible. Once the magnetometer drift correction is working, it'll be amazing. VO is a perfect game for the Rift and having support is going to be great when the consumer kit launches.
Oculus is really pumped about mobile devices right now, and VO is the only game I can think of with both Android/iOS support *and* Rift support. That could put you guys in a really good position soon. ; )

Kinda hard to cough up 300 for the thing atm..... Have to see what the price is when the consumer units are out and how well Linux supports it...
New TOY!
New TOY!
Fuck that noise PaK... I'll be getting a Rift as soon as I can! VO will be even better than ever... assuming this all works out!
The Rift is pretty cool, but if it were my money (just as a consumer), I would wait for the high resolution retail units. Right now it's a strong value for developers who want to get their footing in the world of VR, because we don't need it to be amazing-looking for development purposes. But the biggest limiting factor in the devkits is resolution, which is due to be improved in the not too distant future.
