Dev's please go and submit VO as a candidate on greenlight. I've got some videos I can post and all sorts of other media we can use to help get a really good page going.
Everyone else, when the page gets up, vote for VO to get on steam!

Definitely do this! At the very least it's a way to get desktop gamers who otherwise wouldn't know about the game to see it.
^^ +1
The devs had previously applied to steam and were rejected. Now that steam will be supporting Linux, though, I'd think steam would be wanting to get as many Linux friendly games in their lineup as they can. Probably worth another attempt at least.
Oh cool, I hadn't heard that steam-on-linux was officially coming. Sweet. In that case, do this, definitely.
EDIT: Belay that. I had forgotten that Steam is run by sub-trash masquerading as living creatures. Do not associate with their kind.

The promise of greenlight seems to be if the game gets enough consumer demand it gets on. So it would seem they have abolished their policy under which VO previously got rejected.
This is the break VO needs. lets do it!!

VO: The greatest and ONLY truly great MMO available on ALL platforms! I'm fair certain that it's supported by my Etch-a-Sketch! And I did used to (still do sometimes) play on an ancient Mac Clam Shell!

Not quite. Valve has the final say and Greenlight votes are not the only thing they consider.

Well votes are not the only measure of consumer demand either, I didn't mean it in a narrow sense. We just need to fill the page with lots of VO awesomeinity (yes new word), and then see what happens. As you say, it's a new inbound link source if nothing else.
I'm aware of Greenlight and had meant to check back once it had launched. I'll take a look.
One thing I believe worked against us with Steam is our Metacritic score, which is pretty poor. Of course, it's mostly from 2004 as well. But anyway, Steam is big on posting the score with the game, and I think they didn't like our number. (I have yet to meet an MMO player who cares about metacritic scores, but.. rock on).
I was hoping to launch a named "expansion" with the conquest stuff before getting on steam ("Vendetta Online: New Awesome Stuff", which would create a new Metacritic score.. but that's taking too long; I'll submit us to greenlight when I get a chance.

A decent sim that does things mostly right. It provides a solid framework for an online space sim, but it needs additional content to build and sustain its appeal.
^ That's the highest critic rating review, I'd be lieing if I didn't say I agree with it. I think it's the great beauty of VO that we have a loose framework that allows for such great player made gameplay, but simultaneously the great tragedy that we don't have the player numbers allowing us to take advantage of it.
Some of those reviews are pretty nasty though, it's negative marketing you don't want so the expansion idea is a really good one.

Vendetta Online encompasses a small community of individuals with narrow minded ideals, at times bigoted. There is very little moderation and control of what is said, users can even vote mute each other due to a lack of in game moderation! There is no direct contact with any support, no game master team or support network that new players often lean towards in a new game environment.
A dated eight-hour trial often receives negative reviews, this is a framework of a game rather than a 'sandbox', a sandbox implying the use of well developed, intuitive and user friendly tools.
A dated controls model based on joystick and mouse control is interesting but ungraceful at the best of times, this online environment is simply not worth the full monthly subscription price to many when the competition is considered.

I'd be interested to know what you are basing your opinions on, FTL-100. Have you even logged on in the past year?
competition is scarce when you consider the following persistent universe, twich combat, and multiplat
I do agree with you on a few of these points, But I'm going to rebut the community moderates itself very well if someone is taking up too much of the chat and you don't care for what they're saying mute them and quit bitching about the lack of moderation. If you're on the internet you should be mature enough or thick skinned to deal with stuff like "come fight me you worthless [edited]" or [edited] ect...
If you're whining because the community muted you I'm sorry but you had it coming its pretty damn rare and to get a majority vote requires significant effort to piss everyone off.
Really though this game does have something I have yet to find anywhere else and since it fits very well in this niche all of us don't mind paying ten bucks a month, it is expensive relative to other games but doesn't piss me off nearly as much as the F2P model that attracts so much filth words fail to describe what would happen to this community if it switched over to it.
But look if you're going to come in here and call us bigoted and narrow minded going off on how the game is dated and there's better alternatives you're obviously not a fan ect ect, I'm going to ask where your motivations lie because really you come off as a troll and if you were able to be just a tad bit more subtle you could pass off as someone who actually cares about this game and tried to input some constructive or even relevant criticism.
TL;DR [edited; let's dial down the name calling and profanity -Phaserlight]

Yes FTL-100, that is technically all accurate and It wouldn't surprise me if you pasted that directly from a review site. But then why is this [edited] game so damn [edited] good I mean seriously there's something [edited] special about how [edited] fantastic this universe is. Blows my [edited] mind.

That is the most exquisite bit of nonsense I've seen in quite some time. :P

IIRC, wasn't one of the problems with Steam publishing that they didn't like/allow your purchasing/subscription model at the time?
That may have changed, since I've seen more and more subscription MMOs pop up on steam, but then the free client download might be holding us out of that since Valve wants a cut of the sales in order to publish with them.

For what it's worth, I just bumped your metacritic user score to Universal Acclaim.
Rest of you MC users should cast your votes for the game, since it really hasn't any attention on that site.
