Hi. Last month I was doing my bachelor state exams on my university, so I decide to stop play the game for a month so I did not subscribe for that month. Well, today I was checking my transaction history on online banking and what a surprise! There was fresh payment to guild software! For last month and for this month also. Well I want to know how is that possible. Should I somewhere uncheck automatic rebuy of mont subscription? Its kinda stupid that I payed for a month while I did not want to pay.
Thanks for reply

From the "Billing Options" page: 2. Select your payment method
Credit Card . . . (NOTE: This is a recurring payment)

From the next page, "Billing Options >> Terms of Service": 1. Recurring-Fee Game Purchase Upon your acceptance of these terms, we have the
right to automatically charge your credit card the Account fee plus any
applicable taxes we are required to collect, and you authorize us to do so.
Thereafter, each time your Account comes up for renewal, we have the right to
charge your credit card the then-current renewal rate plus any applicable
taxes we are required to collect, and you authorize us to do so.

Finally, from the third page, "Billing Options >> Credit Card": You will be billed $9.99 US Dollars every 1 month. Please be aware that this is an AUTOMATICALLY RECURRING billing system. We will continue to bill you the amount you have selected at the period selected (shown above), unless you choose to cancel your account.

Hell, the "AUTOMATICALLY RECURRING" part is even in big red letters.

So, how is it possible that GS billed you exactly as they repeatedly stated that they would? Obvious. How is it possible you were surprised by this fact? Because you're kinda stupid.

It was much worse finding out my free XBox Live Gold membership trial automatically billed me after it was done. Be glad you accidentally paid a indie developer extra money than faceless Microsoft. :P

It's honestly kind of crappy to not allow single charges for credit card payments (without having to do extra stuff after the payment is done).

I know it's pretty much standard, everybody does it, but that doesn't make it right.

An option to buy a single month probably should be added.

It just seems odd to me that we're asking this little company to take the time to set this up, when their business model depends on subscriptions and the ability to forecast their income. An individual can simply sign up for a month and cancel. Sure, add it to the options, but not until the time or financial impact is negligible. The cost should be somewhat more, as is standard, and a system to send reminder/"please come back" emails should be enacted (assuming it hasn't been - my sub has not lapsed since I changed credit cards one time).

Honestly... after having subscribed myself, I don't understand how anyone could miss the fact that it's a recurring payment.

It's in bold red letters. Not only once, but on several pages during the process.

That said, it's still weird to not allow single payments for regular credit card payments. I'm not saying that they are any worse off than Blizzard etc because they are doing the exact same thing (iirc). I'm saying that I don't like it.

To be honest, they are better off than all others I've seen, because it's a lot more obvious that it's a recurring payment.

These sneaky devious developer! I just realized (thanks to the OP) that the developers of VO are involved in blatantly criminal conspiracy to embezzle tens of dollars from me! Its almost as if their payment system is identical to every other MMO that charges a monthly rate. It is so identical that it must be in violation international copy right laws!

IMA CALL INTERPOL! Your criminal days are numbered you miscreants! I DECLARE A VENDETTA!!!!!

RAGE QUIT!!!!

IMO, "Please come back!" emails are pathetic.

yea please com back emails do sound kinda pleading, but verbose reminders that your subscription has lapsed would be good, well atleast for those of us who only have one account on one email address
