Ray's coming along with it, but he hasn't gotten it all done yet and there's still some outstanding details. He would rather test it all really thoroughly and release it next week, rather than do a rushed release tonight.. and I back him up on that. So next week it is.

I'm looking forward to outstanding details! Do not disappoint! ;)

Quite understandable. Will there be any releases tonight?

Utisz: Apparently not. We're holding off until next week.

No problem. All the new things have been great so far. No point in rushing and not getting things right.

Yeah. Making a huge, lumbering trade ship that is still very hard for one person to kill takes time.

Well it will be worth the wait if the rats don't like it. :)

Maybe it'll just force pirates to be more organized, which is really the whole point, isn't it? It'll be fun when to be truly profitable as a pirate you need at least two fighter/interceptors and a big cargo ship waiting out of range to pick it all up. It'll be even more fun when there are enough people regularly in-game for this to happen often. :)

Will I get two PK's every time I pop one of those dual piloted ships?

Otherwise we should change the stat to SK for ship's kills.

I can't wait to boom them:)

Well, its a step in the right direction and hell a week wont kill anyone. One question though...is it going to be a fighter? Most people were under the impression that it was going to be a Moth.

Most people got that impression from inc's News post:

"As a result, Ray is now working on making multi-player ships a reality in the near future. I can't say how near of a future, because we don't know yet; but if all goes well.. as early as this Friday, if not, then next week. This is a critical stepping-stone as we move towards the goal of Player Capships. In the near-term, you can expect some sort of small "heavy" that has the potential for turrets, such as a Behemoth."

Oooh, turreted Warthog? Please? Warthog with two turrets? Just for me?
May 03, 2009 Ghost link
We should have an uber prom with 2 turrets, just for the sheer destruction it would cause. Would probably take 3 people to kill it.

Or make it have turrets everywhere, like a B-29. Now that would kick ass.

Edit:
Incarnate, what will be the max number of players that can be in one ship at a time?

That sounds like a cappy to me... unless you mean that the second pilot gets to travel from turret to turret (and there is only one gunner). That'd be interesting.

Or possibly a new ship. It might be less "breaking" to try this new concept on a new ship, thus not breaking what already exists in the game.

By new ship, I mean new model.

A Centaur would be interesting as a turreted vessel. It's thin profile makes it the perfect ship for dorsal and/or ventral turrets; minus most of the cargo space, and you've potentially have yourself a two to three person corvette.

Yeah, the interesting thing about this is balancing these ships becomes a whole different beast. Because there are two players in one ship, I would say it would be acceptable to make them extremely difficult to destroy by oneself and still a good match with 2 players.

Totally agreed Ghost. Turreted ships will definitely create/improve more cohesive, team accomplished battle practices and tactics.
