Server-side updates to allow for more fogged sectors.

I dunno, but that kinda news for a update I can live without. The other stuff is fine.

sooo we may jump into other fog now that randomly appears? Or when you feel like adding more fog you can easily? Both is cool...

Nice update

Umm, see various Suggestions posts. Basically, we're moving towards having persistently fogged sectors that are visible on the map, and making storms much less common. These fogged sectors can then be arranged in various "reefs", which have to be passed in order to continue jumping somewhere else. Like say a station in a small ring of asteroids, that are fogged. It creates new environments, new uncertain situations where PCs or NPCs could lie in wait, new types of combat environments. Dense fog, with a relatively close clipping plane, allows me to pack sectors far more densely with asteroids. It also allows for crazy city-sized stations and the like (which you can fly through, but not see all of at once, due to the fog), etc. Plus, we can dynamically alter the density and composition of the fog on the fly.. if people mine a lot of a certain type of mineral in a particular location, we can fog it with a related color and density in proportion to the amount mined (not that we would do that, exactly, having this vast array of fog colors could look pretty hokey, but it is an example).

I'm not going to make it obnoxiously annoying to get around the galaxy.. avoiding that is actually why we're moving in this direction and away from storms.

Also, for some reason Ray left out some of the other changes this week:

- Capital ships should now navigate obstacles better.
- Capships are now spawned much more effectively in some sectors.

I like where this is going. The concepts of mega-stations, foggy sectors, and pirate hideouts are very appealing.

If I eat a lot of beans and fart a lot in Latos N-2, can we get green fog there? Or perhaps brown fog?
(we can call it "emergency air system venting")

Minimum UIT: Disliked
Minimum Orion: Disliked
Minimum TPG: Disliked
Home faction is not: UIT
