I.. assume that was during the release, and you're ok now?

So, you really think spamming turrets all over UiT space is going to slow me down? Well, it just might, the sheer numbers you have added seem a little bit much though 10+ turrets on BOTH SIDES of the Capitols worm holes just seems wrong.

Maybe lower the numbers and spread them out a little bit more? I dunno, just seems, excessive. Most folk had trouble with the 6 or so at Latos H-2...

[edit]

Maybe make the turrets stay dead for a period of time BEFORE you spam them everywhere like they are the new "thing to spam".

<rolls eyes>

They're only around Capitol systems. It's just the same newbie-guarding stuff I've been touting for the last month. They were supposed to go in a few weeks ago, but I was distracted by other development.

Anyway, making turrets have a longer respawn time is a good idea. I'm not sure that that'll make your life much easier, though.

Frankly, I figured you guys would find some snazzy new tactic in like 5 minutes anyway. But that it would "discourage" newbie hunting that much more.

Yeah, well heres a video showing that its now impossible as a UiT KOS pilot to reach Nyrius from Latos...

...Oh wait.

Well, good, glad it's not impossible; was just trying to make it scarier.

why didn't u go boom? the rocket flare thingies hit you quite a few times yoda.
Oct 11, 2008 yodaofborg link
Nah, they actually exploded behind me, seems the turrets can shoot their own missiles... (Althought the two in Nyrius look like they hit me, if you watch the radar, you can see they missed)

you thought we needed more turrets? And here I thought that it was hard enough with the previous amount, only succeeding in one out of six attempts. With ten on each side of it? No wai for us non-yoda people.
If you would just remove the bloody missiles that kills you during jumping, it would be alright I guess.

Sometimes the turrets open-up with no delay, killing you while you are still in the warp ani, the 5 second delay needs to be enforced.

It would be interesting if it was decided that using so many energy weapons near a wormhole messes up the wormhole, and that any defense system near one would either have to use fewer energy weapons or switch entirely to rockets and missiles or move farther away.

Also, this game really needs some good beam weapons....

Have you tried getting past them with a disguise?
Oct 11, 2008 yodaofborg link
Yes, but in my line of work, the disguise don't last for long... heh

dont try this at home if you dont have an infiniboost ship.

Umm, the point of the turrets is to protect newbies, like I mentioned earlier. Plus, if you're KoS, you can't dock there anyway. You can jump through grayspace to get to the other side of UIT territory if you really want to go to Nyrius or something. I've created another mechanic to allow you to recover faction standing from grayspace, and I'll work on improving that (some equiv to faction-space botting).

So, all in all I don't see a lot of use-cases for KoS people *needing* to fly through Dau, unless they're actively pirating (I really don't care about the "short-cut" factor). The turrets at least reduce the chances of that.

We've needed this for a long time, and I think it's pretty close to right-on.

Honestly I feel Yoda's a good indicator of pirate ability to enter UIT space to kill newbs. If he feels unhappy about his inability to enter UIT space then we are safer for at least one month. I'm sure that by Novemeber there will be those who have figured out how to get through the turrets snd the tips will be in the wiki by December
