MURNAU, GERMANY, June 23, 2008 - TeamSpeak Systems GmbH, developer of cutting edge voice communication software and integrated solutions, and Guild Software Inc, independent game developer and creator of multiplayer virtual environments, announced today the integration of TeamSpeak 3 voice communication software within Vendetta Online, a 3D space combat MMORPG for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms. Vendetta Online permits thousands of players to interact, and now communicate, in real-time as the pilots of spaceships in a vast universe.

"TeamSpeak Systems approached us recently, looking for a multiplatform integration testbed for their new product. They saw Vendetta Online as an ideal production test-case, as we are one of a small number of truly multiplatform titles in this genre. Our game is strictly native on each platform; we do not use wrapper libraries for portability, unlike most other MMOs," said John Bergman, CEO of Guild Software. "Our goal was to rapidly integrate TeamSpeak across all of our supported platforms: Windows, Linux/32bit, Linux/64bit, and universal Mac OS X. TeamSpeak delivered brilliantly on all counts."

This joint effort marks the first publicly released version of the highly anticipated TeamSpeak 3 SDK, TeamSpeak System's revolutionary, next-generation voice communication software, although TeamSpeak Systems is currently also working on other integration projects ranging from military simulators to financial institutions, as well as other online games and virtual worlds.

Additional features of Vendetta Online include the ability for large numbers of people to play together, at once, within a single persistent universe. Players take the form of spaceship pilots within the universe; trading, mining and fighting their way across a vast galaxy. All combat within the game is real-time, based entirely on "twitch" skill as opposed to "virtual dice rolling". Players may fight one another, fight NPCs, participate in groups, and even engage in large-scale battles between Nations. Newcomers are welcome to visit www.vendetta-online.com and sign up for a free trial account.

That's neato. As far as you know (or can say), is this the first roll-out for this kind of integration? Or has it been done in other games before?
Jul 01, 2008 incarnate link
We are the first to integrate it and publicly release:

Nice.

Hopefully this is just a start, but yes, we've been burning a lot of energy gearing up our infrastructure for this and other exposure (hence the lack of major game changes lately, beyond voice chat, getting back to that shortly).

Mysterious third party, teamspeak friggin' 3. I am shocked, surprised, and impressed.

Sweet. Guess VO is not competing with TS but using it, much to my surprise =)

BTW Incarnate, you might want to the update vendetta-online.com front page to say that you get up to 16 hours of trial game rather then 8. Oh, and maybe add a TS3 logo.

cool, anyone interested in TS3 will see the VO news.

I'm sure this will slashdot and digg at some point too

Actually...it's tucked away in the corner on the main page too
