countless deaths while chatting at turbo
heres a goodie for ya - a 100% prometheus
dead in one go - 3 easy ways to achieve it
1: undock - get 'into' the station' model while invuln ..
or at least caught bouncing madly in the collision zones
- invuln ends - issues follow quikkly
2: spinning station wheels often can cause massive damage for apparent brushing
3: spinning ice chunks or roids....
i had a 100% prom in s12 t'other day - wasnt near a roid - grabbed a cargo - sat on the spot to chat - screen flashed red - i issued - woah - spinning roids - no matter what your speed or theirs, seem to be very very very hazardous
(and some spin so slo you dont notice)

So I was doing a regular old 14-15 run like the newbie I am. I'm headed to 14, with a Marauder with medium engine/fastcharge of course, and I'm on full turbo. I intend to fly to the center of the ice pack in 8, then aim at the sun. Somehow my bearing isn't quite right, because I hit the ice at 180 and my Marauder instantly explodes.

I have done this many many times, most of them on prupose.
If you can't see the roids very well turn the gamma up, hit esc while in game, click video, then scroll down, it should be fairly close to the bottom.

So that's why when i was trying to help a new person find it he kept on yelling at me...
There is a bug currently where if you take a vulture and u are going 55+ and you touch a roid with one of your wings. It makes you go from %100-%0 instantly. I've had that happen a few times. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't, just odd.
It's not just 55+ though, and it's not just roids. I was at 100% and issued once when the wings of my vulture brushed against station dock at 20m/s
Well, I don't think it's really a bug. Realistically, bumping into an asteroid SHOULD do a lot of damage for any spaceship. So a vulture SHOULD explode if one of its wings is broken off. I mean, look what a missing piece of foam did to the shuttle...so now imagine bumping into a roid...that's a major problem for any space craft. The way the game is now makes it more realistic...
So you think the Vulture should explode but the Centaur, to pick another ship with big wings, should have minimal damage done to it?
For linux users that can't see roids (especially in 17 or 18) just crank up the monitor brightness. Its kinda ghetto, but it works.

Well, to be honest the Centaur has considerably thicker wings than the Vulture, but yeah, it should go up too.
I do this constantly. But usually I'm going between 300 and 700 meters/sec with a dev cheater engine of doom.

Hasn't this random death bug been there for a LONG time now? I remember suffering from something like this pre-3.2
Yes. Collision damage isn't quite right, and it hasn't been for a long time. It's on our list.
I hope it is less important then Balance stuff, and Add new shiny features

This bug is notorious for catching me as I try to get to the 10 station. I have exploded in vultures coasting along at < 20 m/s many times. Because of the nature of sectors like 10, I hope this is fixed soon.
I've actually done even worse... I have \ binded to /explode, and I accidentially hit the wrong key in a fully loaded rag when I tried to dock... You can guess what happened next... :P Yeah, I've gotten killed by that bug too...

I was testing out one of my binds and accidently pressed the button next to it in the middle of nowhere.....The button I accidentally pressed happened to be my /explode bind!
I was flying a fully loaded Pizza cutter with 16 nanites :(
