I'm already planning on lurking in that pea-soup fog.

Mmmmm souuuup.

Wireframe overlay of radar data? Why that sounds like something I (along with Lex) suggested! =D

Yawn.

Love how the ball on new content people actually want (caps that are more than an ammo sink?) keeps on advancing. No, wait...

Keep it right up, ya'll, it's getting more and more engaging every week.

Thanks for the update Inc.

One thing, can you please make the "fog of war" (lol) impact speed? Since you're flying through stuff you should automatically slow down a little if you're not thrusting, and accel should be a little slower. I imagine this would be pretty easy to implement but would require quite a bit of work to make the numbers balanced.

Anyhow, please do this for me Incarnate and I'll send you a cookie :)

Two questions about the fog:

1) Will it be throughout the entire sector, or in clouds?
2) Althought I think fog as depicted in the screenshot would be awesome for ion storms, it seems a bit much for stations. Perhaps it could be less dense in those sectors? It doesn't really make sense that stations would allow such a big visibility problem to exist...

i'm with smittens on this...

the stations should not allow such things corrupt their space.

and my two questions are as follows...

A)what smittens asked in his first question. would be nice to fly in and out of a cloud and not trapped in a full sector of green shit.

2)will they be noticeable in NAVmap overviews. (shown on navmap, period)

Doing real volume clouds is pretty technologically complex. We could do that, but it would only work on the upper echelon of computers and videocards, most likely. For now it's just linear fog, consistent at a given density throughout the sector, with some variations caused by blended sprites and such. Kind of the "old-school" way of doing it, but also fast. I would like volume fog, but I don't think it's wise to spend a lot of time developing it at this juncture.

I was planning on making ion storm fog fairly dense, but "mining station" type fog fairly light. Again, the screenshot is an early development testing thing that Ray made to show me, don't base too many assumptions on that, there may still be considerable changes (graphical and otherwise).

Will what be noticable on the navmap? Ion storms? No, not in the short term.

Sounds interesting , progress is always welcome.

A little about the fogging.

Personally, for me anyway, the biggest problem with the current storms is that the bot AI can see you 5000m's away. I, personally, would love to see that working properly before any visual effects. This cloud thing is cool, but I think it will actually exacerbate said situation even more.

Looks cool though.

edit: and is it just me, or is Lecter becoming a pitiable caricature of his former self?
