Please do something about the Unbots

Can you guys just lessen their frequency a bit? Like maybe half? I can't even get out of Odia somedays!!!

They're really, really becoming a pain. I know there's more coming for them, but for now would it be possible just to cut them in half till they get fixed properly?

fixed... i dont know... i think they're doing a finer job than the sf and station guards.

earlier this evening, i crossed serco space with barely a seeker in sight. the unbots, though, they managed to secure "their" wh. kudos to that (yet i still escaped, albeit with some dammage).

i suppose that trading in grey now really does require an escort if you're in a cargo ship. hurray for mmorpgs!

and this actually gives meaning to trading guilds. me thinks.

Ok, yes, unbots good to make grey dangerous.

Bad? Unbots that swarm wh's and make it impossible for anyone who is trying to play a role that depends on a life in greyspace.

As my previous post states: Reduce them UNTIL they begin to actually act like pirates (ie. not just attacking ANYONE who flies in, and actually picking up cargo).

In protest, I am herewith heading to Itani space to pirate Metana. Or Verasi. Anyway, its nation space and noobs for me until this gets fixed.

/end drunken ultimatum.

how about deneb c-10? or b-13? :d

It's not that simple. They are each on a Liberation mission which is tied to a convoy. As it is, because the total in a sector is limited, sometimes there are no npcs on a given mission, and that convoy won't be chased to its destination. I'm going to make them into proper pirates in the *very* near future, anyway. Maybe even by tomorrow night- almost certainly by next friday.

Ok good enough. Till then... Metana is proving to be a much more fruitful pirate system than any in grey anyway :)

Silver linings and all...

Suggestion:

A giant slow moving convoy/strike-force of unbots that spawn in Odia M-14 and make their way through gray space alternating from heading to Eras and Helios. Maybe occasionly with a Terradon. They drop a force of 3-5 unbots at each wormhole that doesn't already have them. This'll kill off the inconsistency of the unbots which I believe is the biggest problem.

So instead of being a nuisance that pops up every two minutes, they become a big problem every 30 minutes. Makes the problem avoidable for PvPers, but traders constantly on the move are likely to run into the convoy and their many garrisons.

But I like Odia being a constant place of danger. I'd keep the unbot count at the wormholes replenished to a dozen every 10 minutes or so.
Jul 07, 2006 Gavan link
A dozen every ten minutes or so?! Why a dozen?! We've already proven that a pirate squad can take down a cap with less than two people... although 3 is quick... Why would it make any sense for squads of pirates to run around in groups bigger than 6?

Regardless.... its a good suggestion otherwise... I like the idea of a single maurading band of pirates...

...but till then.

also, could you make them corvus rather than just unaligned? It would be good if they didn't attack people who are well respected by corvus...would make sense, too, since high standing normally means you have a lot of influence
Jul 07, 2006 sarahanne link
when they were corvus, people would complain that green dots were attacking them.
Jul 07, 2006 Soulless1 link
well my point kind of was that they should be given corvus alignment so that you can get them NOT to attack you if you increased your faction enough to get green dots :P

though it'd be better if that came in with the new faction system, which (I would hope) has some limitations like not being able to have both corvus and UIT like you at the same time, etc etc...

oh good lord....

Okay, how can I say this...

PEOPLE NEED TO STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE UNBOTS. IF YOU THINK THEY ARE HARD YOU SHOULD HAVE TRIED RUNNING FROM THE FURIES THROUGH S17 OR DISTRACTING THE DEFBOTS DURING A FLAG CAP. LEAVE A HARDCORE PLACE FOR THE TRULY HARDCORE. NOT EVERYWHERE HAS TO BE CAREBEAR LAND.

/deepbreath

That is all.

I agree with you Phaser light, I think it should be hard to hang out in the WH near Sedina and Odia.

I've heard that Latos has some nice WH for frolicking.

Noone said their hard Phaserlight, so stop playing the alpha badge.
They're just annoying.
I agree grey space should be dangerous but these bots aren't hard to kill.
They're *just* annoying.

Kix;

I both agree and disagree. On the one hand, it's merely annoying, but if there are fifteen bots in a sector, which seems to happen frequently, and you have to dogfight with them, taking five to ten minutes, before you set up camp, that's annoying.

If half of them get lucky and hit you for five points of hull damage, that's even MORE irritating, because now you're at 65% hull. I'm not sure I'd want to hang out in a sector and pirate with that kind of damage to my boat. At this point, the ratbots are interefering with the RP aspects of the game.

Well duno about you guys but since unbots don't seem to care about "2on you at a time" rule that hivebots follow, it means that you might have 10 Vultures MKIV 3 Hogs and 2Taurs on your tail, all armed like crazy. There aren't that many players that can defeat them all in a moth nonetheless (okay no one can defeat them all in a moth). But even a Prom will have a hard time not to take damage and finish them all in 10 minutes. If ten minutes latet their numbers are replenished then securing the WH is a lost cause.

Zed;

That's a good point. 15:1 odds is highly significant, especially when they have decent weapon loadouts, AI pilot or no.

I'm not as concerned about this being an issue for the traders. Trading is supposed to be difficult, and it give the traders more incentive to join guilds (PA is recruiting. :) )and work as a team with someone flying cover. That's an RP situation that I like. I AM concerned with this being an issue with pirating, which is a legitimate portion of the game.

Case in point. I snuck through Sedina yesterday in a moth, a run I usually wouldn't do (I prefer a Cent for that trip.) I should have been hulled and stripped, with my skin sold for leather, but a human rat was engaged in a furious battle with at least five ratbots. That distraction allowed me to sneak through unopposed. (thanks, whoever you were.)

I think we need more of'em. Particularly in latos.
Jul 07, 2006 Galaxy613 link
Why can't we move the major RP sector from Sedina to somewhere else? Why 'must' it be Sedina? If Sedina is right next to the Corvus capital then it SHOULD be infested from Corvus peoples, not saying they can't be toned down. And if the pirates are going to be aligned with the real Corvus faction, it'll have to be after the new faction system is redone so it's not as easy to gain status with Corvus while still being a POS with one of the major factions. (Figuretivly, because I heard you can not get POS right now)

I haven't hadn't any problems trading in grey since I stopped trying to fly a moth through there. I'd rather make a couple more trips in a Centaur with a 99% chance of getting through a 16 unbot gauntlet than pack the whole load in a moth with only a 30% chance.
