so I was in Geira today, got brave and docked with the Nemesis... well, sitting around I manned a turret and started playing around... and ended up accidentally shooting an already-damaged staton guard in the NFZ. It popped, and I lost the Serco PoS standing I had worked REALLY hard to get...

Is it possible at all to have it restored? :(

Sneak in and bot until you can docvk again (-600 faction), and then Guild Trade you way back.

If you mean "can a Dev/Guide fix it for me instantly?", the answer is a resounding NO.

luckily, I'm not hated yet, so I can trade it up, but PoS took bloody FOREVER to attain... I was too frusterated to continue playing after I suddenly lost it today in a split second... I'm blaming the stupid station guard that flew between my turret and the roid I was shooting.

I thought they were supposed to make the AI SMARTER... seems Bohemian accidentally bumped into the Nemesis while docking with it and pissed it off, resulting in everything in the sector hurting itself in the process of killing the innocent UIT trader... and then the station guard flew in front of my turret on the way back to the dock and got me a tKOS in addition to a permanent standing loss.

SO now I think I'm just going to take a break for a while and work on my charts while I muster up the patience to start THAT long faction-gaining climb again... and to think I just sold my prom to clean out the unecessary stock at the station.

POS does nothing. I know. I have POS in 13 of the factions and I get diddly.

It gives you nice discounts when buying stuff - it's an economic advantage, and therefore of interest to me.

And how the hell did you get PoS in 13 factions? exploiting a bug? and they let you keep that? lucky bastard...

There was a small amount of time when you could reach +1000 very easily. It was during the beta UI testing.

What annoys me at the moment is that the best thing you can do to gain standing is *trading* - surely you prove your loyalty a hundred times more by risking your life in a BS or against the hive? It makes no sense.

Personally, I think that a complete BS mission should give you a *large* standing bonus with the faction you fought for, proportional to the length of time you were in the mission. The maximum gain - for playing the whole thing - should exceed that given for a bulk procurement mission by a sizable amount. However you would also gain an equal amount of negative standing with the opposing faction.

Actually, Soulless1, Hive Hunt missions make you go up the Xang Xi faction ladder like a greased monkey on metamphetamines. Once the Hive expands everywhere and with it the Hive Hunt missions, you're set. Of course, the rewards will most likely be tweaked down so Guild Trading remains a nice alternative, but you will still have TWO ways to gain faction, suited for all preferences. Unless you're a miner, of course; in that case you're, like, totally screwed.

Not if you, like, do the get me some minerals trade mission, right?

Oh, but that's still trade. I meant, gain faction for the simple act of mining.

"Yes! we at TPG are simply THRILLED, dahling, that you decided to mine that particular 'roid. Here you go, +650 TPG faction standing. Enjoy!"

If you dont wanna loose your POS standings, dont fire your gun outside a station at all.

POS standing is broken right now. After reaching +999 faction you stop recieving the "xxx faction increased" messages. I went ahead and did a bunch of 5 jump bulk procurement missions anyways to see if I was still getting faction, no such luck.

Oh, but if you try hard enough and do even more bulk procurement missions, you can get POS, but it will take you some (lost of) time. Ask Bronab, he managed to get it done..

Now that ALL factions and sub factions can be repaired, i'd be gutted if people were getting it repaired when they could fix it emselfs, and if you need to make an excuse to take a break, try a better one :P Like I hate that punk yoda!

That last point of faction has always been very very hard to get, Ghost. There was a time backn in the UI betas that a bug allowed you to get POS easily and with everyone, but that was the exception, not the rule.

The trick to getting POS, I hear (though I have never been able to replicate myself) is to lose stading to at about 850-950, and then take the longest, juiciest bulk proc you can find, and with luck, you'll get enough points to hit that big 1000.

On a related note, I got Joyce to Itani POS (she being at about +960) or so, while I was doing the prospecting missions; no idea how it happened, though of course it did while flying around Itanispace, and there I did some missions.

Yep Lecter, all can be fixed, using escort missions, you gain faction for the faction where the mission is to, not from ;)

I heard they where going to start making players smarter too... but I'm still waiting to see it with my own eyes.

btw: When you man the turrent in a trident, all the escorts fly in it's rearward blind spot, and it's practacly imposible to shoot them. Can we please increase the turrents angle of view?

The thing is, I talked to people who got POS without the use of a bug, and they told me that at no point did they stop recieving "xxx faction increased" messages. I've stopped recieving those entirely.
