lol!

I appreciate the thought, but there would be copywright issues all over the place =). The music I used is quite copywrighted.

That and I would want to clean up some of the timing and speech issues anyways =P

Well then, we need to get one of the musicians around here to compose something for you.

If you clean up some of the speech/timing issues, I think this would be a nice introduction. People could actually see a real brawl, and get an idea for the game beyond the collectors they have to fight for their first day.

It would give people something to look forward to.

Well, if you guys are really serious (and the devs don't want to have a professional do something instead) I could spend some more time on it. There's plenty I can still do to clean it up. Timing issues, audio issues, etc. I would need to have people re-record some of their dialogue to make it fit better now that they know what the whole thing looks like. Obviously the credits would need to be removed, the "Choose your side" thing at the end would need to be touched up as well.

All in all, if this video were actually to be hosted on the website or used for a real intro, there is a LOT I would want to clean up first as well as flat out change. It's got a ways to go before it would look like something professional.

But anyhow, would anyone actually be able to compose a score similar to the one I used? It might even work better that way because I wouldn't have to edit clips of the music together and match them to the video. (That's why the ending might seem a bit rushed and the intro might seem a bit long)

I think it's very well done but I agree with you, Ghost. It needs a bit more to go mainstream. You know best what your vision was so you should take the lead in the polishing.

p.s. Atan sounds like Angelina Jolie in Sky Captains. ;-)

Wouldn't it make much more sense to use VO to render the scenes in realtime? Maybe the devs can add a record and playback function?

Hey Ghost... what happen to the comm system sounds?
Jan 27, 2006 Ghost link
I ended up using SoundForge to do a low-cut on the audio and add a little distortion instead. I tried both ways, but this sounded a bit closer to what I wanted.

I'll link to it from News as a cool player-created movie.. but without endorsing it as the "official" VO trailer. I think it's really neat, and awesome that you guys made it, but it's not quite up to par for a trailer to go on Apple's site and such.

Make sure to tell people how to contort their video players so they can see it. Newest version of VLC worked for me.

beter make it a more fun to get to play format before making it into the news. wouldnt want a bumch of noobs stumbling accross it on some website and then play it, get the white screen or whatever, and be like WOW thats look to be a fun game!

Lol I want to see the high quality one! and also theres a few dark areas in the movie, brighten it up and it should fix the whole thing.

Cool inc, I appreciate it. And yeah, I completely agree with you, it's not even close to being up to par for an "official" trailer. I imagine something much cooler could be done using graphics not pulled directly from the game. Cutscene material in other words.

On top of that, there's still so many flaws that I just didn't have the time to sit down and go through. Besides, for an "official" trailer, my vision would be a much larger scale battle, not just a skirmish. That's actually what I wanted to do with this trailer, a full-scale battle complete with cap-ships and an armada of fighters. Obviously though, I didn't have the resources. A CGI cutscene would be much cooler IMO.

So yeah, a little movie for your enjoyment, but not official trailer material by any means =) It's really more for the players and the devs, the people who know the game, than for the people who haven't heard of it.

I think it would be cooler, (with some touching up,) as an intro to the game instead of the boring old Vendetta Online screen. That's how I interpretted it here:

I love the movie, but as a trailer of the game, the story should be more complete, why don't you show some people minning, trading, i mean fighting is not the ONLY point of Vendetta. you should also show hive bots and their army. Naa mean? put more game's contents in your movie and it will be PERFECT. don't take me wrong, i just LOVED your movie, but in order to be a game trailer it SHOULD NOT focuses on only 1 point of the game.
Hope to see another soon :)

Again GREAT JOB!

I appreciate the suggestion Graig.

I thought about focusing on more that just the Serco/Itani conflict, but I felt I should keep my goal narrow. This way I was able to focus more heavily on just battle footage. I had an overwhelming ammount of footage taken of combat, the scenes I put in were the best of them.

That and I just can't think of a way to film someone mining and make it interesting =P
Jan 29, 2006 Chikira link
have the miner blown up by swarms from seven different serco ships who snuck into Itani space? and then have the Itani strike force hunt them down?

> have the miner blown up by swarms from seven different serco
> ships who snuck into Itani space?

Because that _so_ makes me want to become a miner. :P

I like the tight focus. Anything more, and it'll end up sprawling, methinks.
Jan 30, 2006 GRAIG link
let me explain my point:
Begin in a roid sector showing a miner doing his stuffs
- "miner 999 to station xxx: got 150 cu of yyyyy will be in your space within 6 minutes"
then show him fly and *be intercepted* by pirates
-"drop your cargo or die you scum"
make him ask for help to a station
(statin footage)- "to all fighters next to the sector a6 systeme xxx, a miner is in troubles with some pirates, go as quickly as possible to help him" like a police call in fact
make many fighters footage saying
-" rgr fighter x to station xxx im at 1 wh ofthe location, will be the in 45 sec"
-stationxxx: "rgr that fighterx give me details of the opreation, fighter y is on hiw way too with a 3 fighters squad

let you imagine the rest. but it should be a way to input miners/traders in the movies.
