Having just trawled through some of the recent posts i am dismayed to see people hassling the devs over a lack of updates recently.
Yes i know its been a while but they are only human and as such deserve a break just like the rest of us, probably more so.
I've waited years for a game like this, dreamed about it since the first time i played Elite "Wow wouldnt this be great if it were 2 player etc etc"
And now its finally here. Maybe not in its finished form yet and maybe it never will be truely finished, but i will continue to be happy with whatever the devs see fit to give us.
Guild is not a huge multi million pound software house and thank the lord for it. How many other games have the developers interacting with the user base. How many people who play other games even know the names of the developers!
Yes i have played since alpha and i keep on coming back for more. Dont ask me why i dont know, i just do.
So come on everyone give the devs a break and let them get on with the task in hand.
/edit: Yes i have a Mac too /edit

Ok, which dev do I break first though!
No seriously, I whine and bitch lots, and so do a lot, but its cos we like the game not cos we dont.

I just realised I made the last 2 with my RP account, sorry :/

It's constructive criticism.
And it brings to light a number of the frustrations that people continue to murmur. I just prefer those things to be out in the open. Open to debate. So argue that the devs can/can't do certain things, but please don't criticise the debate itself.

I've never played a game as long as I've played VO. I don't intend to stop for a long time. We make suggestions and voice our frustrations because we care about the game, and about it's success.
It's constructive criticism.
It's really not. For constructive criticism to exist, it is necessary for the critic to have insights into the situation that the developers do not.

Sometimes we do have those insights wylfing, when the devs do not, cos, we errm, actually play the game?
Seriously... the devs don't have the time to see half the stuff that we do. And a number of the suggestions regard marketing strategy, something which, while I'm sure the devs are more than capable, there are always going to be mixed opinions.
The devs created the forums because theory is not the same as practice. What a thing is designed to do, and what it does, are rarely similar.

Agreed, Shape.
While the actual FORM of the disagreement can be phrased more... diplomatically... sometimes, the emotions behind it are shared by the majority of the players. The fact that most of us bitch and whine instead of just leaving says two things:
1) We see the potential for Vendetta in relation to where it is now and we are frustrated, because we KNOW it can be better.
2) We care enough to say something.
The devs agree, I think. They (I am SURE) would love to clone themselves a couplea times over and kick this game out the door in a few more months. However, from what I gather, money & time currently don't allow that.
I really do not KNOW if the devs play the game. I suspect they lurk, watching, waiting.

I always thought that for a debate to be a debate some sort of communication had to go on.
All I see happening is arrogant shitheads whining about non-existant issues and Inc being apologetic for no apparent reason.
Edit: so why not have an actual debate. Why don't you and you fan bois get together and come up with a few issues, and I'll respond to those I can with speech bordering on respectful with a small peppering of insults. Just like on TV, except with issues!

Tv, whats that? Yeah, I sometimes feel guilty for watching it sometimes, cos I could be playing VO, shut it newb. (yes, i am refering to you Genka)
I like how this debate is going guys, let's keep it up!
hmm....
dont be ******* guys, leave the devs alone, if you want to complain, go play EVE, if you want to give adivce, post in suggestions form...

Couldn't have said it better.

/me breaks the devs off a piece of that Kit-KatŪ bar...
if you want to complain, go play EVE, if you want to give adivce [sic], post in suggestions form...
Now I'm knew so I don't want to stir up an ion storm before I even get my bearings but, to be honest I get the feeling that a large portion of the VO player base are non-Windows (Mac/Linux) users who don't really have a choice. Speaking personally if I had a choice my current monthly MMO fees would be bound for Iceland instead of Wisconsin. Don't get me wrong, I hold high hopes for VO and look forward to the future of this universe, but I do have to be honest with myself and the developers in that I don't think the game is really ready for prime time yet.
Also, one can't hope to build a helpful community of players and developers all working towards a goal by being dishonest or making blanket "love it or leave it" statement like the one quoted above.

I think that it isn't ready, but the devs have put there entire lifes into this, for the past 5 years or so. they are doing THE BEST they can, and are doing it as fast as they can. just give them a break, and go level up some alts.
Sometimes we do have those insights, when the devs do not, cos, we errm, actually play the game?
Too bad playing the game cannot produce one iota of insight into whether or not a piece of code is ready for release.

Why do you all think this is personal? We aren't attacking the devs and calling them names, we're voicing our concerns, plain and simple. It's a great credit to the devs that they take the time to read and respond to our concerns. One more reason while I'll keep playing, and many others as well.
I wanted to reply to that in some biting and clever fashion, but after careful consideration I realized that there is no arguing with a tree stump. Instead I'm calling tumble a tree stump. Haha, I's clevah.
