So, what's going on in my life? Nothing, same girlfriend, same house, same computer bleh. I fixed up an old summer 2000 indigo imac, it's a 400 Mhz G3. I installed a 120 gig 7200 RPM 8 megabyte cache western digital hard drive in it. Hey...it was on sale for 40 bucks after rebate. It's been running good for the last 2 1/2 months. It's even running os 10.4.2(yea, I still need to update that one to 10.4.3). It's my storage computer..for.....files yea(not porn, mostly video files(movies, tv shows etc, of corse, all legal copies, personal back ups)

So, lets see, I got my learning permit! (for driving) I take my road test may 22nd and when I pass I can then drive all by myself. Muwww hahhahahaha. So I may be getting this 1989 dodge aires. Yea I know it sucks, but this lady is giving it away, a mechanic is looking at it tomarrow to see why it won't start. If it's under 200 bucks then he's been told to fix it. Which means I will be pimping it out with street glow once I get a job. That's the ONLY thing I'll put on it. I just want it to look cool, haha.

Damn, this is a long thread that probaly no one will read all the way to the end. Oh well, and now that I think about it, this should be in off-topic. Oh well, somebody will move it there.

Haha when I was playing Vendetta I was using a refurbed 99' iMac. Anyway got a new Powerbook now, so next time I see you in game, its going be in colour! And texture! And at >10fps... Its gonna be like a whole new game!

BTW watch those iMacs heat up with anything more than a hand crafted, mud-brick, circa 1400BC hard drive in it. Especially in the middle of an Australian summer (yeah I know I should have been hitching to the beach, not fucking around with computers). If you dont think mining is challenging, try finding a roid that will heat up slower than my old computer... :\

I remember trying to integrate a floor fan into my set up so I could record DJ sets digitally without melting my record collection and cracking the glass in my windows. In fact, throw that iMac away, $40 was waaaaay too steep. Thats a lot of VO subscription! Good to hear from you mate, and anyway I expect you will be signing up with the rest of us old school lurkers some time in the future... Haha.

I haven't had any problems with putting hotter drives in iMacs (2 machines, no problems so far).

It is true that heat dissipation by convection isn't as good, but you *could* always install a fan...
