Toon is jargon for a character. I forget which game it's from.

Thanks for clearing that up... Still, talk about your mangled paragraphs...

Seriously, whatever happened to spell check?

any time you delete a charactor, it does ask "Are you sure..."
Nov 20, 2005 snowcatman link
I apoligize, i now realize that it does ask you if you are sure. i guess when one get's in a hurry you click before reading.

it would still be nice that if you realized what you did that you can get your toon back. like some sort of grace period, along with if you creat another toon that you loose the one you deleted to begin with. so as to give u a choice to recover your own mistake.

Umm. Well, you can email us and say "oh god I accidentally deleted my character!@#" and we can theoretically restore it from backups of the database. We'd rather not do that on a regular basis though.

If it becomes something that happens often, we'll add some sort of character snapshots or something. So you can "restore" them yourself. That'd be interesting.

hm restoring old chars.. wonder what kind of nasty things one could do with that...
not sure if that is a good idea. Maybe better add a couple more "are you REALLY sure?", "are you ABSOLUTELY REALLY REALLY REALLY SURE YOU WANT TO DELETE THIS?" before it actually gets deleted. Don't give our devs more stuff to worry about...

yeah... it happened to me, a1k0n tells me that the database keeps the info for 1 month then updates with new info. I accidentally deleted mine, waited for a month and thanks to a1k0n, I got it back (after a month, so my records were completely wipped) :)

you should put "Are you sure you want to delete [Character Name]" it would help :)

yeah, I just realized it says "Delete Character" "Are you sure?" which isn't very informative...
Nov 21, 2005 incarnate link
We should probably make people type in the actual character name as confirmation.

"Delete character"

"Are you sure you want to delete the character "Incarnate", then type DELETE and click OK"

Are you Really sure you want that?
Nov 21, 2005 sarahanne link
Tyen there will be people whining "I didn't mean to type in DELETE and press enter.... :("

Its true, how can you accidently click yes?

Ok, if someone else does it, your a moron for giving out your password, if you do it yourself ?

This was talked about before, I think the *Are you sure?* screen is enough, the origonal poster said *I apoligize, i now realize that it does ask you if you are sure. i guess when one get's in a hurry you click before reading.*

me hands round a nice cup of STFU, and fix the bloody +toplist so it doesnt scroll to top* ect ect...

actually, Incs idea of having to type the character name to delete it is somewhat common, and it takes *time* to do. more than the split second of "click the OK button that pops up" since your train of thought is already set on accepting what you just did. it's HCI at its finest and saying "well, you did click OK" doesn't really help.

I suggest a slider:

How sure are you that you want to delete the character "Zathras"?
Not sure [#=================] Very sure

Anything below 100% generates a message about coming back when you're completely sure.

Everyone expects a button to be clicked, noone adjusts a slider to 100% "by accident".
