Persistent Events

As mentioned in our last Holiday Newsletter, we have a new Persistent Event feature that will be bringing more content to the galaxy.

This now includes two new Persistent Events that are spawning on Saturday (Feb 22nd) for the first time. One in Helios a little after 1pm Central, and the other in Ukari around 5pm Central, after which spawns will become randomized.

Nav Maps will show some Persistent Events in advance, blinking the respective square of the Sector map with increasing frequency, until the Event finally spawns.

This mechanism is still in active development and testing, but will probably be responsible for a lot of content drops over the coming year.

Most of these Persistent Events have unique NPCs, and some may eventually have unique items as well. They will probably become another important channel for rare drops.

Game Translation

Again, expanding on our previous Newsletter, we've continued to update and improve support for other languages.

Notably, this includes fifty additional missions that are now fully translated into the nineteen languages that we've added.

Considerable custom work has also gone into cleaning up and improving our support for Spanish, Russian, German and Ukrainian. Stay tuned as this continues to evolve.

Curved Corner Support

Devices with Curved Corners or large camera cutouts now have enhanced support in the game, via the "Overscan" option in Video Options.

This is enabled by default on new iOS devices, as well as Android phones that are detected as having a large crop or camera intrusion into the screen space.

Other Changes

Eight major patches have been released this year, so far. But here is a distillation of some of those changes:

Mobile versions now default to Third Person Improved camera interface.

Interface-helper arrow added to the early game, to help new users find understand Mission progress, etc.

New "/beacon" feature set, allowing manual deployment and removal of Nav Beacons.

Dropping an 11th Nav Beacon now replaces the oldest beacon.

Additional optional fonts are now available for Cyrillic languages, and UI customization.

Android version can now automatically switch between Touch and Gamepad.

Fixed issue with NPCs attacking other friendly NPCs that are on the same mission.

Lots of other fixes and stability improvements across all platforms.
