Another Great VO Day.. circa 2009 (long)
(not quite sure if this belongs in General, Suggestions, or Roleplaying.. I'll let the mods decide)
Having been inspired by davejohn, I decided to write up my own VO day, only extrapolated into the future. I joined VO three long years ago, so I decided to imagine the game three years from now:
- I log in to find myself at Lemuria Central (our guild's home station), in the Lemuria system; three jumps out from Latos
- I check our shared inventory: wow, the miners were busy overnight! lots of lanthanic and heliocene, all the more valuable since they disappeared from the inner systems
- I check the "Convoy" tab; *Aeta Lakshmi and its escorts are trading deep in Itani space and aren't due back for almost six hours, ditto *Broma Kadi in Serco.. I consider purchasing a third NPC convoy from the nearest UIT station in Sedina, but the guild can't afford another for at least a few more days.. looks like I have to haul some of this myself.. (ugh)
- Good thing I stashed a Behemoth here.. I load up the cargo bay and take off, making for the Lemuria-Aeta wormhole anchor in B-7; then continue to Aeta and to Khaeda... but the Khaeda-Latos wormhole is dead..
- I dock with the wheel-shaped wormhole anchor point, and sure enough its reserves of lanthanic have run dry.. I make a note to leave a nasty note on our guild forums to whoever pulled wormhole-maintenance duty this week.. on the bright side, though, at least I have a hold full of the ore; I unload 50cu, enough for five more jumps at least..
- Ahh, to be back in the core systems.. Ever since Latos fell under UIT oversight last year, it's become one of the safest of the core systems; that's why we chose to place the Khaeda anchor point here.. regardless, on to Dau!
- Pulling into Dau Senate in L-10, I pass a few n00bs and give a quick pointer or two.. if I wasn't busy on guild business I'd probably stop to mentor a few.. (it's a shame so few vets come this far coreward any more, I'll have to recommend we start selling ore in the higher-traffic UIT stations in Sedina or Odia)..
- I unload my cargo, and bring up the "Merchant" tab in the station; consulting my handy-dandy guild price sheet, I set our remaining lanthanic to sell at 2k credits per cu, and the heliocene at 875 credits per cu
- After that it's a short jaunt back to Lemuria to continue yesterday's prospecting in the newly-named Charadia system.. no anchor points lead there yet, so that means taking an explorer frigate. I page my explorer from the "Ship" tab, and wait for it to jump in and dock at our newly-built capital ship docking arm.. once it has, I select it in in my ship list, and launch..
- Luckily I already have sufficient lanthanic aboard to power the jump engines.. I also have a spare pair of warp point anchors, so I might as well lay them... Lemuria already has four warp points in it, so I'll backtrack to Aeta, and lay the wormhole there.. too bad explorers can't use ordinary jump points like any other ship... waste of good lanthanic to jump to another connected system :C
- I navigate to Aeta K-15, set my navcomp to the Charadia system, and lay the first warp point anchor; I engage the jump engines
- In Charadia O-14 I set my navcomp for Aeta K-15, and lay the other warp point anchor; I slowly back into it till the aft docking port on my frigate fits neatly in the hub of the wheel-shaped anchor, and dock with it to unload an initial supply of lanthanic ore to power wormhole formation.. TPG is supposedly researching a way to create natural wormhole areas, but these anchors have been working fine in the mean time..
- Cruising from sector to sector, it isn't long until I find a mother-lode of lanthanic roids in K-5 that makes the claims we staked in Lemuria seem paltry by comparison.. enough here to run our wormhole network for six months of heavy useage, at least..
- Calculating what would happen if our enemies stake a claim here before we can vote on it at next week's guild meeting, I make an executive decision: we need a station here, as soon as possible! ..I make for the 3km limit, and program a jump to Lemuria to fetch our construction frigate. . . .

Very nice
The real difference between the real world an the internet:
Real world: prophets of doom, the bird flu sort or the fall of troy sort, are mocked and dismissed with a wave of a hand.
Entrawebs world: prophets of doom are hailed as great forward thinkers in the field of mundanety.
Hip-hip hurrah for thurisaz, the master of boring game design!

In three years VO won't have pirates NOR Genka?
I'm SO in!
I'm SO in!
If I can have my own bar in the Lemuria system, complete with real agave tequila grown in space hydroponics, kickass.
I'll call it "Leber's Last Stand" and probably have to defend it from Miharu's Makchuga's Franchising corporate espionage minions, trying to get my tequila recipe.
Seriously if that happens in 3 years I'm sticking around just to own & operate a bar.

She'll also try to steal the krabby patty recipe, I bet.
Plankton! I knew Jexkerome was Plankton! No doubt about to implement "Plan Z"!!!
LeberMac, don't you know? In the future, all restaurants are Taco Bell.

Of course I'm going to implement Plan Z! It's LEMON-SCENTED!
Now please get the Hell away from Deneb, LeberMac, and let me work :P
