World of Warcraft firestorm
Howdy folks! Just thought I'd stop by here so anyone interested can watch this very interesting drama about a change to the official Blizzard forums. They're changing it so you have to use your real name to post on their official forums - and the only effective way to get technical / customer service is through those forums. The announcement post they made yesterday already has over 23,700 responses to it, with I'd say around 95% against it. (you can find that thread here http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=25712374700&sid=1)
Begone foul beast!
"I called Blizzard tech support and asked about this RealID thing, specifically if it was possible to change the name on my account so that my privacy wouldn't be infringed upon. The Blizzard rep put me on hold to ask his supervisor, the supervisor declined my request and said that this is only a proposed change to the forums and it will not happen if the community disagrees with this change."

Everyone acts as if all changes Blizzard suggests are final. They aren't.

they've been deleting every topic that says " Please don't do this"
even the polite ones. They are going to do this.

VO should do it!
zamzx: Or they want to keep everything in one thread, specifically this one: http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=25626109041&sid=3000
Too lazy to find the link, but Blizzard has decided against RealID for use in the forums. Thankfully someone was listening.
Blizzard is a good company. Of course they'll listen.
