If a guild does not have the ability to use the provided management tools (which require a majority of the council and commander to be on-line in a 24hr period) they must inform me of the changes in this forum.

I try to get to updating the rank changes as soon as my schedule allows. However, I do have 2 other jobs that take higher priority.

I do not have the authorization to add or remove members. However I am able to change the ranks of current guild members. If you aren't in the guild currently I am unable to add you.

I will not listen to requests for removing "dead" guilds.

You need drop below 6 characters in a guild to trigger the dissolving process. The number of commander, LT, council or general members doesn't matter as long as there are more than 5 names on the list.

There is no reasonable reason to remove the inactive guilds. There is no memory crunch, Guildsoftware has a liberal account hiatus policy, there is no restriction to the total number of guilds formed, and these guilds are not doing anything to harm you through their presence in name only.

Inactive players are decided by the individual guilds. I think guilds use various record keeping methods ranging from buddy lists (the buddy command will tell you the last time a player was on), asking all active players to send in a confirmation email (posted in the MOTD), tracking dues paid by players, etc.

Personally I would post a notice on my guild homepage and MOTD and give players 2 weeks to respond with a "I'm still here" message. Any that don't, get removed by the LT. NOTE: I don't have a guild so this is just my personal view and does not represent the views of Guildsoftware or any other player.

A few tips:

It's helpful if you give me the new ranks of members, rather than just saying "remove". That prevents any ambiguity.

It's helpful if you tell me WHICH GUILD you are referring to. I don't always know who is in what guild.

This is a role-playing forum. Try to keep your guild description in-character whenever possible.

If you want to ensure that the formatting is exactly the way you want it:

I haven't heard from Marcus Grey in a while, so what are my options for changing the guild commander? Does it matter that I used to hold the position, or not?

I made your changes. Have you tried to contact your commander? Have some of your members post so that I have something to point at if Marcus Grey shows up.

Honestly, he could keep the position, if you could change the MOTD for us. One of the side effects of my being deployed is that I don't have access to my old email records, which include Marcus's email address. I suspect we would have some luck with that, but thus far I've only been able to try a /buddy note. Schelling should post here soon to confirm.

Does the vote no option work? I might be able to get 4 or all of the council online for a vote.

We just want to keep the guild active. But currently almost all members are not playing, including the commander. I don't mind keeping marcus as a commander, as Aramarth posted, we need to change the MOTD.
