Feb 04, 2009 Whistler link
The Station News (SN) is a news outlet that gathers serious news items from the far reaches of the VO universe and publishes them electronically for retrieval using the PDA.

If you have items that are newsworthy, please post them here. They will be checked for content and, if approved, they will be posted in the Station News. .

A few examples of news worthy items:
-Announcement of live RP events.
-Results of live RP events.
-Major guild transactions.
-Recruitment drives.
-Player guild announcements.
***This is an incomplete list. The guide is the final arbiter of what is appropriate

A few examples of items that won't be posted:
-Personal ads.
-Overly personal attacks (mild faction/guild bias is permitted in RP posts).
-Satire / humor.
-Items which clearly conflict with the back-story.
-Items which may result in confusion (i.e. stories of ships or add-ons that do not exist).
-Overly inflammatory items.
***This is an incomplete list. The guide is the final arbiter of what is inappropriate.

Submission guidelines:
-Maximum 30 lines (excludes publishing instructions).
-Images cannot be displayed.
-The starting times for events should use Greenwich Mean Time to avoid time zone confusion. Use /time in game to see the current GMT.

Please include the following information:
-Subject.
-Organization responsible for the post:
-Which Factions should see the post: we can set it so you have to be liked by a faction to see the post (Serco, Itani, UIT)
-Relevant dates/times.
-Text.

The guides reserve the right to edit the posts before adding them to the station news.

The guides reserve the right to request that, in the case of semi-editorial content, the actual individual being "quoted" or described post their appoval within this thread.

Posts that are submitted without the proper information will experience processing delays.

Please use vendetta_news (at) yahoo (dot) com for sending newsposts if you want them to be a surprise.
If you have sent a post to the e-mail address please either post here or let a guide know in game to go and check the account. Sometimes we get busy and don't check it every day.

Housekeeping: We'll be locking and unpinning the old thread after 3 months and starting a fresh, shiny new thread. This way these guidelines won't be buried so deeply, and we'll have a searchable record of items submitted for publishing.

(PA) Phoenix Alliance Guild Begins Councilor and Commander Elections
Organization: Phoenix Alliance Guild (PA)
Factions: All

Recently, the Phoenix Alliance Guild has commenced a new election cycle for the nine councilors seats and one commander seat of the guild's high council. Political Analysts as well as members of the guilds are in agreement that there is a large possibility for new leaderships to emerge in both elections. Commander MiexonBionic, who's position is also in the election, spoke recently about the changing dynamics within the guild.

"Recently, the guild has seen a large influx of new members who are very motivated, interested, and active in bettering the guild in many places. I would be shocked if many of our veteran councilors lose their places to a much younger and more energetic group of candidates."

Although MiexonBionic admitted that "...many seats will likely change hands", he also stated that "...a core group of veterans are likely to remain amongst the High Council." Many political analysts believe that this election cycle will be one of the more interesting elections of this year while others argue otherwise. Either way, the transition of power is argued by all to be a peaceful one.

(The Phoenix Alliance Guild is an organization known for operating primarily out of gray space.)

Subject: Fifth Ultimate Wingman Tournament
Organization: The Viper Guild (VPR)
Factions: All
Relevant Date/Time: Saturday 6/27/09 at 7PM GMT (3PM EST)

The Fifth Ultimate Wingman Tournament will be held Saturday 6/27/09 at 7PM GMT (3PM EST). Signup cutoff is a half hour prior. To sign up, see Strat or Ishathis Bessuni in-game or post the in-game names of you and your wingman on the forum at www.viperguild.com. The winning team will receive a prize, courtesy of The Viper Guild.

Rules:
1. You must enter with a wingman. You may not change wingmen.
2. There are no weapon restrictions, but only four ship chassis are allowed. You may participate in any non faction-specific Centurion, Vulture, Warthog, or Atlas. This means your ship will probably be a mkIII or mkIV.
3. The tournament ladder will be a simple double elimination format.
4. Similar to the nation war, leaving the sector is not permitted, and running for obscene distances will result in disqualification. Interpreting this distance is up to the discretion of your fight's moderator. In previous tournaments, many people did turn their backs, but only to switch targets to their second enemy. This is acceptable. Fleeing to avoid getting shot is not.
5. Lagging out renders you victim to whatever happens to your ship. Matches will only be replayed in the event of a server/system/sector crash. Participants may be disqualified for severe lag.
6. Any players who disrupt any major player-run event and become banned from the event between the time of this post and the tournament will not be permitted to participate in the tournament.

A NEWS item!?!?

/me faints

Published

Normally I would try to edit for more of an RP feel (avoiding reference to VO being a game, using pilot instead of player, etc.), but I'm short on time.
