I thank those of you that came to the NW and behaved within the spirit of VO .
We are a small and to a large extent a self regulating community , this is particulary so when it comes to player run events. The vast majority respect the declared rules of the event and the enjoyment of events depends on the self discipline of those taking part . We suspend our normal vo behaviour for the duration of the event for the mutual enjoyment of all .
The behaviour of Blackhole goldclaw spoiled the event for all taking part . As far as I am concerned he will not be welcome at any NW hosted by myself until such time as he has apologied to the community at large for his disruptive actions.
I do not intend to record the result of the war , that would be unfair to those players who had to start in a damaged state . My thanks to all those pilots who despite the disruption joined in and fought so well.
Finally , as event host I apologise for not being able to do anything about such disruptive behaviour . It is my wish that VO should continue as a self regulating community ,rather than having behavioural control imposed . We shall see.
Ecka

It's not your fault...
Thanks Ecka for hosting, and for the patience demonstrated with the idiots who feel like they MUST ruin the fun for the rest of the players.
Congrats to the winners/survivors.

I would also like the game to be self regulated by players. But in some instances a player can only watch while someone is breaking the rules or being rude. We need the guides back, at least sometimes. I played at least 80 hours last week and i only saw sarahanne for about 2 hours yesterday to give a cap ship war.
What Ecka failed to mention was that some players got fed up with BG so they actually logged off.
The players can not keep law and order in the game. We need the guides and developers to at least monitor the situation in game. I know the developers are busy working on new stuff, but we have a universe here that needs protecting. Especially now with new players coming in every day.

BG's actions were inexcusably inappropriate especially because of the number of tangentially related people he hurt. But, I don't think that we can expect a self regulating community to work unless we are willing to mediate grievances. Once you kick someone out of your group you loose the right to challenge their community ethics.
BG had reason to feel slighted. Why did we let it escalate?

I don't feel that BG needs to apologize to me, so please amend your demand from "community at large" to "the people in the community that aren't cool."
I feel that genka needs to apologize to me, so I am waiting.
softy2, I'm sorry.
eh, I say record it anyway... I understand a good number of Itani were damaged by BG, but they won anyway, the UIT were largely ineffected. As for the Serco, our numbers dropped from 6 to 4 before the war could begin, because two of our group members ran out of time to sit around waiting for it to begin in spite of BG.
I managed to get ahold of FM during the chaos and asked him to step in. If he did, it wasn't until after the NW had begun (took him some time to log in).
I have a short video clip of the last three pilots duking it out, which I should have up on youtube before long.

It's ok genka. It's ok.

With the influx of new players recently, this is the last thing we need. A pretty poor decision considering the situation, BG.
I am not taking sides with or against BG, or any other party involved in this situation.
But I am taking exception to you expecting a guide to automatically take your side in what is basically a player conflict. Of course you think you are in the right, and you might even be right. But there is no reason a guide should assume that. You act like you can just take a vote and boss a guide around based on that vote. This is a player conflict, and you really don't have any grounds to force a guide to do anything.

I don't think they were forcing a guide to do anything. They asked him to help resolve the situation.
Asking a guide to step in is really a statement that it is beyond the abilities of the parties involved to resolve the situation, and that the situation is of such importance that it must be resolved.
On the first point, this is a pvp game, and if you can't settle it likes adults, then by all means, shoot somebody. Have you really exhausted all your options to the point that it is beyond the ability of the players to resolve?
On the second point, do you really want to insist that a weekly event be the primary priority of the guides? every week? I can see where a guide would get tired of this fast.
If players can not host and maintain this event, by their own means, then you should stop calling it a player run event.

i was hoping to avoid this, but it looks like we have to try keep the location of the NW secret to spesific players, since its impossible for a player base to prevent BG to re enter the site and fire flares from his rag.
And its not any problem for anyone that wishes to delay or interupt any player run events if they so choose to.
Anyway, good fighting all and good job to the sercos that managed to hold the line for so long, and congrats to Tao Pai for beeing the only surviver.
Pleases me to see that a newcomer can join in on such event, and take home the prise money.

When 25 paying customers want to do something together, and one paying customer wants to prevent the 25 customers from doing that, then, yes, it's a problem the shop owner with a grain of business sense should address, regardless of what the 25 customers want/can do to resolve on their own.

This isn't a Democracy here. The extent of your voting powers is muting someone. You might as well be asking for a /vote kill command.

My comment about the guides is right then. When was the last time any of you saw a guide on for any length of time?
The "shop owners" are doing a great job looking toward the futrue to bring cool new stuff to us. But i think they are negleting the player base they already have.
Roda: I never said the guides should be on just for player run events. I said the guides should be on MORE often then they are. I'm sure they are busy but Mynt is right, we are all players and all equal. Sometimes just having a "cop" walk down the street is enough to keep people in line. I'm not even saying the suide would have took our side, but it would have been good if one was there to at least witness it and take what ever actions he/she thought were appropriate.
Ghost: There wasn't a guide to go to, none were online. I think there should have been.

Sooooo, we should have exceptions to the stated rules of the game to protect 25 peoples' dubious fun, as opposed to uphold the stated rules and protect the fun of all the subscribers?
Wow! It's never been so clear to me before! Thanks Syylk!
