Actually Bean, he's had his license for that revoked as well...after threatening a six year old and bringing him to tears.
The ancient miner creaked his way out of his bunk , dressed and told the room service computer to formulate coffee . . Where was he ? oh yes Latos. C 2 Station hotel . He had just just wandered in and crashed out after a good few drams in some bar or other last night . Station hotel reception computers throughout space were used to this, they just put him in a room and charged the cost to , er something. Coffee in hand he told the comms panel to display the news which it did at the fourth attempt after being told by the hotel reception compter that Ecka was from Nyrius and it should just guess at what he wanted .
" Och , ah kent weel whit local ore prices are , gie us yon CNN or UIT 1 news ye bletherin' eejit o' a machine" grumbled Ecka.
He listened with half an ear to the newsreader describing some border skirmish as an item on the rolling headlines caught his eye. Namely his name.
" Gie us that judge story , no the talk o' the steamie "
The details were sparse, just an announcement "VO district court system", and the lines:
Please direct your litigation to one of the following district court judges:
Ghost
Mecha Touriuas
Ecka Estenk
Roda Slane
" Ye whit ? Hoo the fish did that happen ? A judge . Aw shite... "
It definately said Court . For sure old Ecka had often been a referee at the various events and competions in space , but a court ? He certainally didn't remember volunteering , nor for that matter being asked, but then there were many things he had forgotten volunteering to do . But what to do about this one ? The Commander of TGFT has to keep all his responsibilites in good balance, and he could imagine conflicts of interest arising.
" hmm, I ken the Guild cooncil will want a swatch at this midden" he thought and wandered off to grab a 'taur and see if any convoys were heading for Dau..........

"Eeesh. Court duty? How the hell did I get selected for this?"
"Just lucky I guess." Bojan said.
"You're the commander, I thought you were supposed to handle these kind of things," said Ghost, glaring at Bojan.
Bojan shrugged with a smug grin on his face.
"Damnit, I'm a pilot not a judge."
"Maybe you should tell them that. Anyhow, I'm not exactly sure what kind of authority they have to appoint people yet. But we've got people looking into it. So just... hang tight," he said.
"You're enjoying this aren't you?" Ghost asked.
"Every minute of it." Bojan replied as his smile widened.

Roda Slane? You may as well let Dr. Lecter preside over Miharu's own death penalty trial. It'd be about as fair.
Lecter presiding over that trial would actually be entertaining, as opposed to however Roda will conduct himself.
Mecha not being able to sleep and just noticing the message at the comm computer at his desk, decided by common sense to read it. Reading it a few times over to make sure what he was reading was...real.
Mecha raises an eyebrow as he is informed he has been appointed a judge via electronic message.
"Who the hell came up with this idea?" He asks himself.
"Who in their right mind would want me to be a judge of any sort?" He thought to himself.
Minutes pass as Mecha thinks on the message he recieved. Who would think that they had any authority over him to demand such a thing. On the other hand would anyone actually think that? Maybe they think he would find it interesting or useful.
They were right.
"I suppose I could..." Mecha says with a grin and curiousity in his eyes.
Do I have to wear the silly robes...?

Roda looked at his cards, took a guzzle of white wine, and looked around the table. You could tell Roda wasn't drunk yet. He was still drinking white, and he was still guzzling.
He could not hardy think of a rougher bunch to be sitting at the same table with. It looked like it could get real dicey real fast. But they where all playing it cool, so Roda took another guzzle of wine, and waited quietly.
A cute waitress showed up just in time with a bottle of red. Roda innocently placed his hand on her leg as he expressed gratitude. She didn't pull away, but she didn't lean into it either. As she opened the bottle for him, he let his hand travel. She continued her work on the bottle, but still didn't react to his attention. Roda started to wonder if she was a better card player than he was. He thought he detected a hint of amusement in her eyes, and let his hand travel a little faster, but she finished her work, and with a twinkle in her eye, walked away. Roda could hear his heart pounding. But the chink of credits hitting the pot brought his mind back to the table.
He watched as each player pitched his ante into the pot. Roda wasn't at all sure of his hand, but the stakes where too intriguing.
With the best poker face he could muster, Roda threw his ante into the pot, and calmly said "I'm in".

Can anyone say they didn't see that coming..
lol, yeah. You'd think mecha would be forced to recuse himself...
Hahahaha. OKAY!
Now let's see. Don't you have to capture me first? I mean really I'm a judge of my own trial? well then i'm not guilty AND I think CNN should pay me 10 mill for all the suffering I had to go through during this trial...:(

Four judges, you might want some votes from the others Mecha.
All he needs is one other to deadlock the Court and get a mistrial.
well my pal Roda could vote in my favor, and I can duel ecka and ghost for a vote.
