The life and times of
Mogul Velaio
and a universe in motion

Many people have asked me at various times to make a synopsis of events leading to Mogul Velaio's "tragic ending".

Given the saga is spread across two years of game play (yep), a complete recap would still be big. Instead of rewriting the story, I've decided to make brief summaries of major plot lines and have every one of them point to the thread in question to let readers dig into the details if they want.

As a tribute and gift to all my friends in VO, I've made a special montage of the final event raw footage into something more cinematographic in hope that people who didn't attent will enjoy it.

Some posts from Mogul Velaio were not included here because they didn't serve a purpose in the saga itself.

Trooper Mogul Velaio, IDF. mid January 4434 log
This was the character introduction of Mogul Velaio. At the time, he was a regular member of the Itani Defense Force. This log shows where Mogul came from and how he came to be an IDF pilot. It also introduces his brother, Lesgul, and son, Toine, wich have are further expanded later on. Up until december 2006 (4435), it had not been known if Mogul had a wife and other kids. This message was the only one, until the Camillia thread, that makes any reference to his wife and daughter.

Urgen transmission: to IDF commanders and Itani nation defenders
Trooper Mogul in action. Here we see Mogul bagan to wonder about the purported superiority of Itani forces.

Serco "cultural exchange" special project; duty report.
This small thread discusses the premises of futur event. In it, Mogul describes how he was able to infiltrate Serco territory in order to gather intel.

A letter home
After being promoted Lieutenant of IDF, Mogul writes home to announce he will not be coming back for a while. Mogul invites Lesgul to join him in IDF. Mogul also asks his son to no longer sneak out in ships.

REWARD given out for info leading to stolen Centurion MkII
Mogul realises that one of the ships he had used to "survey" Serco space is missing and offers a reward for it's return. It will be later revealed to him (in-game) that a small child was at the control and that his son is missing.

To Toine Velaio abductors: A plea for respect of life
In this thread, Mogul makes a plea for the life of his abducted son. Other players pitch in saying they've seen transmissions from Toine.

This thread was much about announcing an in-game event for the search of Toine Velaio, who died as a result of Dr. lecter finding him first. The plot unfolded here

A special announcement from IA and IDF
IDF and IA announce their merger.

To [ITAN] Coalition Of Itan members
Mogul gets elected commander of [ITAN].

COI Purchase Order / Supply agreement #MGLV-4433-12-03-01
This is a background piece that details Mogul having a pre-order PO for to-be-announced TPG Raptor fighter ships.

Re: P.O. #MGLV-4433-12-03-01
Another background piece details his accounts of a battle in space using a TPG Raptor prototype ship. It will be later revealed that Mogul got a piece of shrapnel in his head, which went unnoticed for months, slowly sinking into his skull. Mogul notes he was lucky to get out of it alive, as previous technicians and test pilots died from malfunctioning escape pods. This is a turning point for Mogul.

Open wave broadcast (Where are you Lesgul?)
This short piece introduces the fact that Lesgul is missing. Mogul gets word that Lesgul might have gone Serco.

Lesgul Velaio (Lies about-)
Amidst accusations of his brother being Serco, Mogul makes a public statement to the contrary.

Official Diplomatic Protest
During an incident in grey space, Commander Mogul Velaio officially brings support to SKV for the blockade in Latos. The blockade had for purpose to intercept a resurfaces Itani weapon project, the Neural Spike Implant (NSI). In the in-game event, it's revealed that Lesgul has been captured and used by the Serco as test subject for the NSI which were in their hands. Lesgul dies in those events. The NSI was recovered, and Lecter made prisoner.

The investigation of the Lecter case begins.

Lecter trial verdict
The Lecter case is completed and final verdict are announced. Lecter is to be transfered into a permanent holding facility to serve his sentence.

The Truth
During the in-game prisoner transfer event, Lecter escapes. In a bizarre twist of faith, Mogul's ship is blown in space and a hostile (Mecha Touriaus) recovers secret documents revealing that the trial, verdict and escape of Lecter was arranged by Mogul.

OOC therad only; Letter to Itan members & the universe
This long and rather useless thread was meant as an out-of-character note to fellow guild mates explaining the reasons behind the unannounced culmination of the Lecter transfer event. Some felt betrayed, others eventually came to their senses. But something interesting was said by me, OOC:
"Will he be trialed and exonerated? That'd be cool. Will he be punished? I'd live with that too. Will he get ousted from Itan? That would be his death." After this, Mogul had been permanently ousted from ITAN, thus setting the course for futur events.

"these are not your issues"
Brief introduction of upper case wich plays a role later on. A post made just recently shows upper case coming back to the family farm after his term as commander of [ITAN].

Lonely
In this longer thread, Mogul is a pariah, lonely in a galaxy where he is baned and a wanted fugitive in all systems. Surviving off scraps, the ex Commander is in shock. The shrapnel slowly drives him to madness and falls addicted to a placebo who he thinks makes him feel better, Placebo-Xin. In this thread, Mogul also meets upper case, wich he uses for outside contact and supplies. A bond forms between the two.

[ITAN] Election Irregularities!
Meanwhile, ITAN is recovering from it's shake-up. Elections are arranged and LeberMac is ultimately accused of fixing the results.

Firestorm:
One of Mogul's worst enemy, Borb the Second, comes to realise that Mogul is just like himself: an ultra loyalist, a warrior, and that he might actually serve his purpose. Becoming mad, Mogul is in need of help and when lurred by Lecter for a 4-way meeting along with two ITAN members, Smittens and LeberMac, Borb knows Mogul is going to bite it and decides, on a whim, to rescue him. An unlikely friendship evolves and Borb has Mogul's head fixed. Mogul looses part of his memory as a result and is shocked by the recent events revealed by Borb. Mogul has nothing to live for. His friends, relations, career are all gone and he decides on a path that will be his downfall. He convinces Borb that closing the Sedina/Latos wormhole might be a good way to stop the war, even if he doesn't believe it too much. Mogul wants to end his life. Weither gloriously or not. Alone in a stolen TPG Constellation, loaded with explosives, Samoflange and xith, Borb is instructed to fire a stolen Avalon torpedo at the Constellation in hope to disrupt the wormhole by the massive explosion. The plan fails, and Mogul meets his end, leaving his only friend, Borb, behind. The events lead LeberMac, then Commander of ITAN, to be charged and deemed responsible for the whole Avalon fiasco and is demoted. This eventually leads to the LeberMac/Lexicon saga.

Mommy, why do you lie to me?
upper case, having promised to protect them, does his best to hide and move a woman and her daughter as necessary to protect their identity. Their mysterious identities is brought to light when a nosy Deck Handler and his Chief realize that the suspected kid monk, messing with their hangar, turns out to be none other than Mogul's daughter and wife. One thing leads to another and Lexicon ends up capturing the kid whom he thinks will be key for his ascension into the Serco dominion. (This thread runs in parallel with the Shades of salvation thread.)

The last post in "these are not your issues" basically closes the saga.

[blip] Automated sequence initiated
In this short thread, an automated script creates an AI process, "synthetic Mogul", whose purpose is to spread files to specific people. A post-morten adressed to people close to Mogul Velaio and, presumably, the process responsible for teaching Camillia basic flight maneuvering. Synthetic Mogul, aka, the sMogul process, made frequent appearances as the process seemed to have roamed freely across machines in the galaxy. The last entries show that another automated sequence terminated the sMogul process, much to the surprise of LeberMac whose account was unknowingly hosting the program.

Epilogue. In The seed, the true nature of upper case is revealed. This vindicates Mogul Velaio's dementia and paints a grimmer picture of the events that transpire behind the scene of a secret organisation.

The list is already in chronological order within each of the subsections, unless you mean without the subsections. That's possible as well, but probably easier on the wiki now that it has sortable tables.

yeah. so's the "life and times of mogul velaio and a universe in motion". it's obviously mogul-centric but really is a timeline of his existence and those around him including many pieces by others (like "shades of salvation" and "operation firestorm").

that story line is as much about other characters around mogul and many people co-wrote it. all the way leading down to the epilogue small piece called "the seed".

also, the video footage is that of erik. i simply remixed the montage and cut some scenes.
