The Makchuga Bar and Tavern would like to announce that at 2300 GMT on Tuesday, October 31st, 4434, it will be hosting its Second Annual Halloween Bash. This year, events will include a reworked Mine Darts event and another, all-new activity that has not been released to a large audience before.

Rules for the events will be posted to the RP Forums no later than 1800 GMT.

The Makchuga recommends that guests who intend to participate in the events have access to at least a basic Warthog hull and a Plasma HX blaster, as they will be used in the Mine Darts event.

A few more events may be added to the list of activities, but food and drink will be available all evening to guests.

Guests who attend while wearing a costume will be entered into a drawing for a rare item.

-- The Event Rules --

Game: Mine Darts
Number of Players: 3-14
Ship Layout:
» Warthog (any)
» Plasma HX
» Any powercell
Rules:
1) Participants will be partnered up with a mine layer such that they are able to destroy the mine(s) laid for them.
2) Participants are not permitted to fire upon any other participant OR the mine layers at any time.
» Failure to comply with this rule will cause you to be disqualified from the event.
3) Participants will not fire on their target mine until the mine layer has cleared them to do so.
» The mine layer will tell the participant when to shoot via Group Chat.
» Failure to comply with this rule will cause you to be disqualified from the event.

Procedure: The particpants will be paired up with their mine layer according to Rule 1. The mine layers will then create groups and invite those participants who have been assigned to them. YOU MUST BE IN THE GROUP TO PARTICIPATE.

After the groups are ready, the mine layers will each select a location (be it an empty sector or far away from the station) and lead their group there.

Once at the location, the mine layer will move to 200m from the first person on the group list and lay a mine. When the mine layer has moved far enough away from the mine, they will signal the participant to fire.

The participant may take as much preparation time as they wish, and then fire ONLY one shot. If the participant misses, they are disqualified. (Note that if all participants miss during the first round, another round is taken at the same distance.)

The mine layer repeats the process with each member of the group. If you are disqualified, at the end of the round, leave the shooting area and return to the station. When all participants have gone, the mine layer starts again from the top of the list, only this time moving a further 200m from the participant. Runoffs will be played at 600m between remaining participants in order to come up with a single winner for the group.

Winners of the group subdivisions will then face off in a final round until a single winner is determined. The other participant will be awarded Second Place.

Prizes: There are prizes in this event for first and second place. They will be announced before the first round starts.

Game: Bobbing for Widgets
Number of Players: More than 2.
Ship Layout:
» Vulture (standard)
» No weapons
» Any powercell
Rules:
1) If you pick up a widget, you must keep it for the round. No jettisoning of widgets until the end of the round.
2) No attempting to impersonate the widget being called. You will be disqualified. (It'll be obvious if you're impersonating the widget, by the way, so don't try.)
Procedure:
A moth loaded with 2cu cargo will be flown (by me) to a relatively empty spot in Odia M-14. There will be only ONE crate of each kind of cargo in the moth.

All participants must be no closer than 200m to my moth while the cargo is being dumped. After the cargo has been jettisoned, the I will back off from the cargo dump.

I will call out the name of one of the cargo types in the cargo dump. When this happens, the participants are to fly through the cargo pile and pick up ONE crate. Once you have a crate, keep flying until you're out of the pile and do not drop your widget if you got the wrong one.

After everyone is out of the cargo pile, the I will check the cargo pile to see if the called widget is still there. If it is not, I will ask the participants to jettison their cargo. Whoever had the cargo item will recieve a monetary prize.

The moth pilot will collect the cargo from the participants and rejettison the cargo into another ball before starting a new round.

There will be five rounds in total.

Prizes: 100000c for whoever has the called widget.

Tonight's events ran quite smoothly after a few hiccups.

The Mine Darts competition went much better this year than last year. Pilots were restricted to the use of the Plasma HX and a Warthog (any variant). Here are the participants, in the rotation order:

[SSC] Daggoth Korronoth -- Disqualified at 400m.
[PA] Joloc -- Disqualified at 700m.
[PA] Mick -- Disqualified at 900m. Second Place.
[PA] MiexonBionic -- Disqualified at 600m.
[Itan] macguyitani -- Disqualified at 200m.
[CLM] look.. no hands -- Winner

The Cargo Liberation Movement's "look.. no hands" took home two Advanced Railguns and an Ultra Charge Powercell for first place. Mick from the Phoenix Alliance took home two High-Density mining beams, an Advanced Mineral Scanner and an Ultra Charge Powercell. The others who were disqualified were awarded 25k for their efforts.

The Bobbing-for-Widgets event ran VERY smoothly, especially for the first time it was done. I'd like to thank Screwball for the general idea of the game--it was a lot of fun to play and to host.

I had fifteen different 2cu items in my moth's hold. I picked five random items from the lot. However, in the fourth round, nobody picked up the selected widget, so I had to pick another one randomly:

Round 1: Medical Supplies -- prize to look.. no hands
Round 2: Extravehicular Suits -- prize to Screwball
Round 3: Magnetometers -- prize to Mecha Touriuas
Round 4: Navigation Unit -- nobody
Round 5: Recycled Plastics -- MiexonBionic
Round 6: Navigation Unit -- MiexonBionic

A third event by Daggoth Korronoth, based on TGFT's roid scavenger hunt event resulted in temporary epileptic seizures in all participants, some of whom were rewarded with a small cache of Law Enforcement Neutron Blasters.

The big drawing for the "rare item" netted Nolan Faux of the CDC a Hive Queen's gatling turret. Congratulations!

It was a gat cannon, not a turret!
Nov 01, 2006 moldyman link
Wow, cannons suck. And uh... since when does the Hive make Gatling Cannons and not Turrets? >_>
Nov 01, 2006 MSKanaka link
They uh, don't. They're actually turrets, far as I know.
