Another Great VO Day.. circa 2009 (continued)
[continued from http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/9/13692#172442 ]
..day two :
- most of our guild is going to be busy in the coming weeks fortifying our position in Charadia; so the majority of our mining operations must unfortunately be put on hiatus... on the plus side, that frees up most of our veterans for convoy skirmishes against our enemies and competitors
- the council agreed last meeting on a long-term plan to coerce the TPG Corporation into a lucrative merger with our organization... for that to happen, though, we first need to neutralize the TPG-allied Free Trade Alliance guild.. this is gonna be fun :D
- luckily today is a weekend, and I manage to organize a group hunt of FTA traders and convoys.. the five of us arm up at Lemuria Central, drink a round at Leber's Last Stand for luck, and set out for FTA space with one of our Teradons as backup, and two Tridents to hang back and carry the cargo
- the FTA makes their home in the Ko'nali system, two jumps east of Edras; we take the long way 'round to save our UIT standing (Lemuria - Aeta - Khaeda - Moksha - Tinala - Bractus - Pelatus - Jhu Chi - Alleida - Ko'nali), raiding their convoys as we go.. (and fending off a few pirates too... it takes them a few tries to realize we aren't about to be trifled with, today)
- It isn't long before we hit a rich caravan of five heavy moths and a few atlases.. guarded by a pair of FTA's finest pilots; they were seriously outnumbered and fell quickly, but we knew to expect heavy resistance now that they knew we were coming...
- Just outside the wormhole anchor to Ko'nali they meet us with a pair of HACs and one of the new Grimoire-class battleships... I dock with each Trident in turn and bid them to return to Lemuria with our booty; if there's an up-side to this, the FTA hadn't expected such a bold move, and few of their members are online at the moment... The way the Grimoire points at our squad head-on was a dead givaway it was under NPC control, as it's turreted Avalon launchers can't get a firing solution on our Teradon
- regardless, it isn't much of a fight; even without the nuke launchers the Grimoire alone was more than a match for our frigate, and the seeker drones it launches are one-shot-kills to fighters.. it's only moments before we've all taken heavy damage, and I call a retreat..
- luckily, though, we're still able to gank a few more FTA traders as we limp back home to debrief.. we rendezvous with our Tridents and unload 900cu of rare ores (mostly Pyronic and Apicene), 175cu of medical supplies, 200cu of Volatile and Inert Chemicals, a modest cache of high-class weapons, and 1200cu of Scrap Metal, which will push forward our construction timetables on the station in Charadia by a significant amount..
- even better, our knowledge of the FTA's economy and deployment history pointed to the fact that we had seized a significant amount of their production for the last three days.. all told, the FTA was going to have an interesting week ahead of them...
