Well, since my little part in the Spike drama seems to be over, and since most of the people interested in this are not on at the same time me and Joyce are, I thought I'd pull out my logs and give you an account of the whole sordid affair.

Anyways, as ya'll know, Joyce bought the spike from who? me? for 15 million creds and a favor. Joyce then brought the Spike to me. Now I have an image (read "copy") of IA's Deep Blue, one of the mainframes capable of operating the spike, and after striking a deal with its stupidly childish AI (agreeing to provide it with, among other things, a coloring book and a set of Barbie dolls) we got the thing to work; we just needed a test subject. Joyce was there, and she was asleep so she couldn't refuse, so we went ahead and hooked her to it and send her out on a trip.

To make things fun, we decided to have go to B-8 and attack any and all that were there, time and time again, until we either got bored or she ran out of credits. The first day (whose logs I stupidly forgot to save) it went kinda well (you'll see in a minute), but she was actively fighting the spike's control (not an excuse for such crappy flying, tho); we pulled the plug on the experiment when MonkofAkan, who was Joyce's main opponent that night (and who she'd type-killed earlier, much to our amusement) figured out something was wrong with her (specially since she didn't talk at all), and began to fly around her without shooting, asking inoportune questions all the time. This actually allowed Joyce to slip the spike for a moment, and try to ask for help on the sector comm; MonkofAkan asked her if it was the spike (curses!) so we made Joyce self-destruct her ship, and her scape pod returned to us.

The second day's logs I do have. Once again, we send Joyce out to cause mayhem on B-8, only this time we had much tighter control on her. I'll roll the relevant parts of the logs now, and add commentary as needed.

She leaves Miharu and goes to her pad. A couple of hours later she barges into my station, kills a couple of my people and holds me at gunpoint. But she talks too much and my bodyguard Dominguez blindsides her.

The rest you know: we hook her back up with the spike and put her to trade for us, and then that damnable UPN in his valk jumps her while she's flying an umarmed wraith, blows her to bits and somehow the damn spike comes free and is left behind for the two-bit pirate to pick up.

From all of this, we can make some assumptions:

1. UPN and the whole CLM must be eradicated. They are a danger and a threat to honest traders.

2. Joyce really sucks.

3. The Power of Love is overrated.

4. I'm just an humble tradesman trying to make a living, so...

5. All those asking for my head on a pike are just a bunch of warmongering troublemakers who are bitter coz I wouldn't sell them the spike.

So there you have it; think what you will. Just one thing, though: Joyce quit on me and when I went to her pad to smooth things over she was gone and no one seems to know where. Any information on her whereabouts would be most welcome.

6) Eckala-Ha Bashor is a psycho who likes hanging out in B8 blowing up convoys and also reacts badly when people shoot at him.

7) It was all pretty good fun. Poor Joyce.

Bojan didnt want to destroy Joyce so many times as his buddy psycho so he logged to avoid that.
And his last remark "ah lame bastard" was aimed at beeper spamming lamer mad dog who likes making this nice game boring whenever he logs.

If Joyce is looking for a safe place to work at, I may know of this place with a bunch of Serco combat pilots and a 7 foot tall overly protective Serco woman.

LeberMac sat in the blue glow of Deep Blue's interface with a half-full bottle of tequila, reading through the universe's intercepted comm channels.

He had been busy defending the IDV Sola from UIT and Serco interlopers during the battle, he had not jumped into the discussion of the Neural Spike. That was unusual. His usual tactic would have been to discuss the Neural Spike and determine its location before sending out an [IA] strikeforce to recover the device.

Why had he not turned his attention toward it? It was almost as if...

He saw the signal clear as day in his downloaded brainwave pattern logs. An external psychic interference signal had implanted itself in his thoughts, keeping his focus on the battle. The neural spike implant had been removed from him for almost 2 weeks, but he could still feel its call. The control the spike had over him was waning, but the holder of the device could still be extremely dangerous if they chose to use the device's power.

Jex had used the signal to purposely keep him out of the purchase discussion. He was sure of it. He would have to make sure Jex paid dearly for his actions.

Now UPN had the spike. The worst of both worlds, a pirate AND a Serco, with no love for the Itani. It must be recovered.

LeberMac went about his work of rebuilding Deep Blue 2 and prepared for his combat sweep tonight. Perhaps NOW he would find UPN or one of his CLM minions, heck, it *WAS* their national holiday today - "Talk Like a Pirate Day." If UPN was out and about, he would have to strike quickly, lest the device be used...

Monk sits in his Hornet, patrolling Grey Space, oblivious to the fact that the Spike that he would have in an hour or so was gone.

Hmmm, getting out of character for a bit, I'd like to say it was my intention to lose the spike that morning.

Now, I didn't want to post here "OMGWTFBBQ I'll be moving the spike around tomorrow in a trader and if you kill me you get it!" outright because then it would have been a mess and not too "RPG-ee", so I wrote the piece about Joyce barging on Jex and hoped people would get the hint. If no-one did and monday got here and I found myself 40 million richer well, then, I wouldn't complain, though.

And then I logged on, grabbed the spike, did a couple of runs, and who should I run into but one of the few people actually not into this RP event, yodaofborg, who was recently back from "na paid subscription" limbo; in short, the one person I didn't expect to find ingame. I find it amusing that losing the spike so soon actually reflects how it got ingame in the first place, with who? me? quickly finding a1k0n (it was him, right?) and blasting him to bits. Still, the fact that I lost it BEFORE anyone involved even noticed my presence still bothers me a bit. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Oh, another thing: should we drop this "jex evil overlord wannabe" thing altogether, or should we try to build it into another RP thing parallel to the spike?

Hm. This proves again that mind-control devices are a fickle thing.
You should have never used it, but given it to us (The Serco Medical Robotics Advancement Research Department of the First University of Terra II). We would have been able to deal with it, and keep it from causing harm, since we have ample experience with such things. Unfortunately, I was on a science convention far, far away and unable to respond.

Oh well, there you go then. Have fun trying to get it back.

Re: Dropping the overlord bit

Dunno... I've turned it into something--I have something to work on this "season" in my logs now, aside from some of the other stuff I had planned. :)

It's rather amusing, and I'd like to see where it goes--as long as you (jexkerome) keep your two characters, Joyce and Jex, separate (ie, unless someone unscrupulous tells him, Jex has no clue where Joyce is located) when the information relating to the other character is relayed in an OOC medium, such as any forum but the RP forum--or players ingame talking about the forum threads.

Jex would have to find Joyce through the old-fashioned method of gossip and friends, and Joyce would have to avoid him via the same method, though I imagine it would be easier for Joyce to avoid Jex now that we've seen these logs... ^^;

I think those "rules" sound fair enough to me. :)

I like Jex the evil manipulating bastard overlord. :) Keep him around.
