Deneb Run #10
TGFT proudly announces the return of The Deneb Run!
This Sunday... Sunday... Sunday, TGFT is going to turn the universe into a GIANT RACE TRACK!
Race fans of all ages are sure to be thrilled as racers from around the galaxy compete for 2 million credits in prizes in the UTLIMATE HIGH SPEED CROSS-BORDER RACE IN SPACE, where the only thing that can knock them out is DEATH ITSELF!
RUN, don't walk, to your nearest universal communications receiver and tune into channel 100 this Sunday at 1:00 AM GMT to listen in as racers line up at the Corvus capital for the start of the race. From there, they will race each other through Serco space to Deneb, then back through Itani space to Corvus Hold, all while dodging HOSTILE HIVE BOTS, NATIONAL STRIKE FORCES, and anything they care to FIRE AT EACH OTHER!
For the ultimate in listening comfort, be sure to buy a self-balancing Hover-Boy MkIV recliner from TGFT. It features a built-in universal tranceiver, beverage and snack dispenser, heated neck and back massager, armrest flight controls, and a cleverly concealed commode. Just remember, we'll sell you the whole seat, but you'll ONLY NEED THE EDGE!
Be sure to check your local /time command for GMT listings.
All interested racers should reply to this thread. The race won't start with less than 6 racers.
Rules will be:
1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (1 million creds)
8) Second person back gets 600k
9) Third person gets 400k
Obviously, a Fast Charge battery and decent ship is recommended.
As an added incentive, TGFT is offering a 1 million credit BONUS prize for the winner if they can beat _ghost_'s record time of 26:55.

Ok folks, who is racing? Please reply to this thread.
FYI, I will be out of game in the hours leading up to the race, but I'll be back online in time for everything to start. The starting time and rules are essentially the same as when Martin/BLAK ran things, so there shouldn't be too many questions. The only difference is I'm offering a bonus for breaking Ghost's record.

I may try to race this time. I'll see tomorrow. My load times may make it a bit tricky though. >.<
I may do it.
NOTE TO AMERICANS: THIS IS ON SATURDAY (I made this mistake)

Saturday evening to be more specific.
Well race fans, it was another exciting week for the Deneb Run.
Three racers competed:
Martin - representing the UIT, a member of EnB, and former race host and member of BLAK.
Dragon of Fire - representing the Serco, and also a member of EnB.
Random Havok - representing the Itani on short notice.
After a smooth start, Martin and Random Havok soon encountered Ion Storms in Sedina... and Latos.. and Ukari... and... well, you get the picture. Meanwhile, Dragon of Fire gained what would quickly become an insurmountable lead, despite the best efforts of a Serco strike force and the SMV Nemesis. In fact, at one point it looked like Dragon of Fire might topple Ghost's record time, but an unfortunate encounter with an Ion storm in Bractus put that dream on hold for another week.
Martin gained 2nd place and clung to it for the rest of the race, while Random Havok refused to give up and nearly passed Martin on several occasions including the final leg when both pilots were in Odia M14 and racing to the station entrance.
For their efforts, Dragon of Fire received the 1 million credit prize, Martin won 600,000 credits, and Random Havok won 400,000 credits.
Here are the stats each racer:
Dragon of Fire | 32:14 | IDF Valk, Fast Charge, no weapons
Martin | 38:46 | IDF Valk, Ultra Charge, no weapons
Random Havok | 39:15 | Vulture MkI, Fast Charge, dual Starflares
I would also like to add a special thanks to Martin and Miharu for their help in making the Deneb Run #10 a fun event for all, and thanks to the guides for helping advertise the event in the station News.
Be sure to tune in next week as TGFT brings you The Deneb Run #11...

Oh, and Screwball you made a mistake, Martin and I both used Valkyrie Vigilants, not the IDF.
