The Story of Holden Caulfield
Chapter 1
From the deepest of pits I watch thee,
casting a torpid glance, not at me,
but at those hungry mouths that desire thou,
for nothing but nights of frenzied concupiscence;
blessing me with shadows of thy false revelry.
In my sleep, my fall is endless,
devoured by this darkening universe,
tormented by my own web of guile,
that keeps the blackbird masked;
lost in my futile search for purpose.
Daughter of Eo, thy road before thy eyes,
is built upon the scaffold of my lies,
and once my craven pride fails,
to throw down its own temple of pity;
of which I blame for our love's demise.
---
Chapter 2
The bitter morsels of my words,
like cherished worthless bauble,
I do not speak, though I ask,
like a fool who is unable,
to think, though I ponder
often about what others say.
So perhaps you may wonder,
why I let ignorance be my mask.

Chapter 3
The Traveler spied a lonely Tree in the coign of a hill
Where the teary sky met the parched desolate scape of land,
Bent yet defiant against the tremulous windy shrill,
setting entwining roots deep in the gravely seedless sand.
Fleeing the angry clouds under a cradling bough thus thither
the Traveler found shelter to nourish his shrivelled heart.
And saw the marks of past wayfarers who rested hither,
surely grateful to the Tree before their journeys depart.
Too soon the moment passed and he gathered his reluctant dow,
to reembark on his storm-filled road though he turned to give,
one last thankful glance at the Tree with a deepening bow,
ere with weary feet he trudged towards his winter's eve.
