Transports need better weapons
a slow turnign pig transport cant just have a forward firing gun.
remember that gun a1k0n's ufo used to have that could fire in all directions?
well how about one for trnaports that can be top or bottom mounted that fires in that firing arc, about as powerful as an adv gat but with beter targetting because now that there are literally hundreds of them flying around they should atleast be semi defended, they'll still die of course, but atleast we'll have to move a little bit to kill them.

I don't think transports are meant to be powerful.
You can mount missles on em, and they maneuver just fine in my opinion. Put longer ranged guns on them.
I do agree, however, that some ships should have turrets on them. But that's a whole 'nother topic.

What about a 'taser' gun to keep fighters clear of the transports? Range of about 400,any direction. Use the old Lmine graphic.
A hit kills maneuvering for about 10 seconds, enough for the transports to get away. That encourages players to attack from a distance, developing aiming skills.

So don't ride up so close. Use something with good range. If you can't walk up to them with a frickin' minigun, then the taser is doing its job.
I think that's a little excessive, an energy weapon is more realistic, transports are the intermediate step to capital ships, they should have atleast one gun turret and then the devs can make it so the stupid things don't turn to fight you in a vain attempt to die like they do now and it will be more of an exciting chase like it is supposed to be, who wants to hunt prey, even robotic prey if it just turns to face you for execution? it should be a glorious chase!
True, but it should be a challenge to take down a transport, and a challenge means a good chance of your doing something stupid, and then dying. If there's no risk, there's no reason to have the mission.
A tazer would just encourage missile spamming the transport from a distance. I'd prefer a ship that's bristling with frig-turrets. Hurts you if you get too close, but a talented fighter and dance around them and hit it.

What about a toned-down version of the a1k0n cannon that fired Frig-bolts?
even if it wasnt toned down, a transport would only have 1, maybe 2, a top and a bottom
but these current transports are little so probably one top mounted would be good
just somthing other than the cheapo gun they have, they should stay on course and let the turret do the firing not turn around and be slaughtered
