This suggestion is to link all the ion storms in vo by a large wormhole nexus sector.
* every ion storm in VO should have a hidden wormhole (define hidden as must be in radar range to see it, making the radar extender very useful and giving a sense of exploration when locating these things)
* all storm hidden wormhole's should go to the same sector (a giant storm off the regular nav charts). Let's call this the nexus sector.
The nexus sector would likewise have wormholes to each (and every) active storm in VO, each seperated by 10-15km of dangerous space.
This would add the following to VO,
* a practical use for players to actively seek out storms (and thus other players to hide in them and wait to attack).
* a sense of exploring the unknown. Both when looking for a storm and when looking for the wormhole inside the storm.
* the nexus sector would likely be crawling with dangerous pirate types and others seeking to find short-cuts to riches and fame.
* a way to get across the VO universe in a relatively short amount of time, while at the same time making this trip hazardous->dangerous (depending on # of players in the nexus sector, hazardous to traders in a moth even with no players as there will likely be bots in the initial storm they must explore to find the hidden wormhole).
As a simple example you could do the following:
* find an ion storm in deneb, locate the hidden wormhole
* enter the hidden wormhole to jump into the nexus sector.
* fly 10-15km through this nexus sector to another wormhole, labeled Latos for example.
* Jump to a Latos storm and fly to the regular exit point.
* you have traveled from deneb to latos in 4 jumps (deneb to storm, storm to nexus, nexus to storm, storm to latos).
The possibilities are endless!
EDIT: maybe exclude capitol systems? But aren't those not supposed to have storms anyways? Seeing as we want to keep the noobs safe ;)

I like it, very pretty idea actually
I thought storms were being pushed out in favor of static fogged sectors. Oh well, this idea has potential but I would suggest that there be multiple 'Nexus' sectors, say four, one for each nation space territory and one for gray space. Basically if you enter an ion storm in Dantia and find the nexus wh, it has all Serco space whs and no more, and so on for Itani, UIT, and Gray.
I'd only connect a couple of systems .. deneb, pelatus and latos or something. Doing that for the whole game sounds like a bit much.
I'd also disable turbo in that nexus sector, to make things a bit more exciting than aim for wormhole and hit turbo.

I like this idea. Surb's suggestion is bollocks, he made it to protect traders from pirates finding a back door into nation space and killing his profit margins. I think it would add a nice random element to the game.
This is an excellent idea.

If you have more nexuses, then the areas become more spread out and less of a... nexus (of players).
I really like the idea, drazed. :p

Interesting Idea but very high on the abuse scale......

Do it!
This is an interesting idea. It reminds me of the "hallway of doors" in Matrix Reloaded.
I have one recommendation:
Based on your description, the nexus sector would consist of N wormholes to other (ion storm) sectors in the Vendetta-verse. These wormholes dissipate and form frequently on the order of hours or days, instead of millions of years. When the ion storm ends, the wormhole (in that sector) disappears, but the wormhole in the "nexus" sector jumps to another sector.
As a result of this "wormhole jumping," you shouldn't be able to "know" where the wormhole would take you... until you enter it.
My recommendation is that these wormholes in the nexus sector not be labeled with anything except for "wormhole entrance." The wormhole could feasibly take you outside of known VO-space. You'd have to find another ion storm to get back.

Sounds like a good way to get the explore addon started, i'd say do it!
I like it. Labeling the worm holes in the nexus sector is essential to their use. Their use is the measure of the utility of implementing the idea.
Love the idea as OP suggested.
"Labeling the worm holes in the nexus sector is essential to their use. Their use is the measure of the utility of implementing the idea."
No they are not. Sans label, utility remains. The only use a label does for you is convenience.
It would be convenient if my ship's computer would warn me about ion storms, and label which sectors they are in. My nav computer could easily and automatically plot around these sectors. That's utility!
How does your ship computer "know" the destination of a dynamic wormhole before it has been explored? Does the universe just send this information to your ship? I wouldn't be surprised if someone answered "yes." After all, our ships are transmitting our pilot names to other (including enemy) ships in the same sector.

Heh, this sounds like something I would want. Maybe add some destroyed hulks and some bots, and we got an idea.
I approve on the idea with kihjin's amendment. A set of such nexus sectors could be a starting point for a storm thriving faction... new storm oriented ships and such.
PS. please put the space whales in the nexus sector ;)
I dont think the wormholes should have labels, but i definitely think that they should be static, in that after becoming familiar with one's orientation within this sector, one could be able to distinguish which wormholes took him to which system . It would make map notes more useful ! of course that would mean that there would always have to be ion storms in those systems at every point of time, even if it was only one.

Not looking for an argument, but I think that could be attributed to what would basically be a transponder in real life.
