Exactly. For any such peoples here's the steps for the 64-bit version:

1) Install w/ the regular installer off the Linux Download page
2) Delete or rename update.rlb
3) Download & run the 64-bit updater here: http://a1k0n.net/vendetta/vendetta-linux64

Yes I whole heartedly concur with Shape.
Once we get the new GUI in place, and the Hive completed, Capitol ships, Balanced Economy....
Then this should require some consideration, but the Devs should focus their energy on NOTHING ELSE but the above stated.

We'll look into this after the next major client release (probably new UI, graphics, etc).
