Tonight's changes
The not-really-a-release release (aka, John tweaks some things, because Ray and Michael are really busy).
- Fused Composite Plating reduced to 120cu
- New, more efficient Manufacturing mission hidden somewhere in the galaxy. Yes, it's for the capship. Yes, it's substantially more item-efficient.

Yay :D
I can't wait to try group warfare with player owned tridents.

Is anyone getting close?
You also recently fixed an issue involving updating guild page changes. Thanks!
Good progress. Did you put a lvl cap on the mission? Ok I admit to being a bit dim sometimes , but I see nothing new ..
Level 5 combat is needed (as a minimum, there are no level caps).
I just checked, and the mission does show up in the station for me. But I haven't given any clues as to where it is located.. don't know how many you have checked.

I looked around a bit but didn't find it, looked at all the stations between Latos<->Bractus.
I've been away for a little bit (since November now), planning a return when my personal economic situation improves. Wandering through the boards, both TGFT and here at VO, I discover that you can now build your own trident -- after countless hours of effort. But hey -- it's way better than just mining!
So I'm happy to see it. Many people whine and complain about this, that and the other when it comes to VO, and board griefers and trolls know who they are. There are many people here, however, who enjoy it like it is (Ecka Estenk and the diehards of the TGFT crew, Phaserlight, the evil pirates that the universe just can't seem to get rid of), appreciate the constant improvements and updates, the attention to user requests and the community (Good, Bad and Ugly). I've been a part of small gaming communities before (Trade Wars on BBS through 2400 baud modems, anyone? Playmaker Football leagues?) that lasted long beyond their technological heyday. I pay for VO, when I can, because I appreciate that it makes itself available to as many platforms as possible. As a Mac user, that's how I came here in the first place. And while VO doesn't improve by leaps and bounds, there are goals and there is progress.
I don't want to see ads in space so that VO is "free". The free games I've played are extremely lame and basic compared to this universe. My payment is an investment in something I enjoy and want to see succeed. Do I agree with all of the developer decisions -- no. Yet, the overall direction of movement is more than satisfactory.
So thumbs up to Phaserlight for his recent comments on another thread about learning to use the Mission Editor if you really want to do something for VO -- the power truly is in your hands.
Right on to Alloh for recognizing that we've only scratched the surface on the ships that could be coming -- battle cruisers and battleships, or as someone mentioned, piloting a Levi. (Destroyers are the modern equivalent of the frigate, so we won't likely be seeing anything under that description, if the creators stick to basic ship categories, however. Perhaps a sloop or patrol craft, -- more powerful than a taur but less so than a Trident?)
And did I read right that Inc sees capship implementation switching the player view to something like that in Homeworld? Whoa -- that would be crazy cool! Capship pilots getting the "big" view of the sector from above, with fighters flying around like little bugs, and fighters getting the cockpit view of the same sector? That means we need Transports so that Marines can take over other team's capships! Destroy the transport or it's game over!
So it takes a few more years -- I don't really care. I enjoy being a part of this community now and it's worth my time and money when I have it to spend. If it's not worth yours, I really don't see the need to rain on those who do find it worthwhile.
Keep up the good work, Inc and company.

+1 Cranston
Furthermore, since they would have the "big picture," capship commanders should be able to select priority targets for fighters and smaller capships in their group. Then we'd really see what Guild Commanders are made of when it comes to starship battle tactics!
This thread led me to do some memory searching on the Internet.
Homeworld is Open Source. Homeworld is Lua. VO is Lua.
Oh my, Pavlov response starting.
Imagine respawning at the cap ship instead of at a faraway station. You're immediately back in the battle! Perhaps respawn ability would be limited somehow -- ships bought at station and "docked" aboard the "mothership?" Resources carried aboard mothership for use in constructing new ships? (That would be true Homeworld style.)
Many, many possibilities far beyond what I originally saw for capships.
