post deletion
I see that my post has been deleted.
In a game such as Vendetta, when you feel aggrieved, you attempt to recourse to the following :
(a) You look at the game mechanics to try to redress the balance
failing that ...
(b) You complain to the devs
failing that ...
(c) You try to use a sense of community outrage to persuade the griefer to stop.
Point (a) fails, since the griefer's main argument for griefing boils down to "The game allows me to do it, so I am doing it." I.e., he takes advantage of the game mechanic itself.
Point (b) fails, because the devs have indicated that they would rather build in a game mechanic so that (c) can work. I understand that this is low on their list of priorities, and I respect that. They are right in that it is a slippery slope to ban griefers for simply "playing their game".
So, you go to point (c). However, it seems that I am not allowed to use point (c), since my post is deleted. I understand the reasons behind its deletion though I might not agree with it.
I do care about this game. But it the end, it is a game, and when it evokes negative emotions such as this, unfortunately, completely due to the actions of a single player, then I think the wise recourse is to not play it.
I hope the devs well, and wishes the best for their game. I believe they will find a solution to Arolte and his ilk.

It's unfortuate that it has to come to this. I am on the brink myself, as the devs know. I have faith that something will eventually be put in place to deal with people like Arolte, Genka, and Blackhole Goldclaw. I fear though that by the time they do, the most active players will have given up. It greatly troubles me that CCB's previous post was deleted. It also troubles me that guides and devs alike continue to allow these people to do what they do. Not having a player judgement system in place is not an excuse. You have the ability to do something about this. It's not a slippery slope. These guys are ruining the game for people, and you can do something about it, but you don't. We are left to take what control we can. My only consolation is when I take matters into my own hands, you don't do anything about that either, but it's not a solution I care for.
I suspect this post will eventually be deleted as well. I hope not. However, if this thread does go the way of the censor, I will go with it. My favorite part of this game is the community. If that community is denied the right to speak out, I don't want to be part of it any more.

The post was not deleted, but was moved to an admin area for examination because it was felt to be inappropriate on the whole. I am reviewing the thread now, and will return it shortly with deletions, warnings, and explanations. I will link to it when I have made the changes.

Edit: Ah, yes, thanks FM, you beat me to it:)
CCB: Your post wasn't deleted, though you obviously couldn't know otherwise. The thread was moved into the Administration forum, and we and the guides are discussing the issue. It is important to us, and it *is* high on our priority list. But the forums are not the place for this.
I understand why, if you are feeling unheard, you would want to get others to agree with you publicly. I understand why people would use the vote mute feature to express their anger. Please try to understand that we don't believe these actions are constructive. Those who spend time and effort to garner a negative reaction are getting exactly what they want when you give them that reaction, especially in public. If you have specific complaints, especially about behavior that differs from what has already been reported, John is the one to contact.
We have many ideas for how to deal with these inevitable differences of opinion about how the game should be played, and I'm personally quite sure that they will work, and work better than those of any other MMO I've encountered. All I can do today is work toward that end and hope that you'll bear with us in the meantime.
